OK Science question...
Based on your example of eye color what are the chances of inheriting from your mother or father. Is it just random? is there anyway to boost the chances of inheriting the traits of the mother rather than the father or vice versa?
Depends on the trait and various other factors. The basics are that both your parents have two variations of any given gene and randomly pass on one of those to you.
Then the question is which is dominant? That one will show (brown eyes is dominant over blue eyes). Some traits don't follow the dominant/recessive rule (skin color is often a mix). Some traits are tied to the X chromosome and can't be passed on by the father if it's a boy. Some traits are subject to random mutations.
You can't influence and it's too complex to explain in a single comment.
Thanks I did not know that some traits does notfollow the dominant/recessive rule or some traits are based on the chromosomes (Yeah that make sense).
Too bad we still can't have designer babies!!!... (Guys don't hang me for this! I am not Babyphobic)
