We have the premium post feature as a mechanism to incentivize support and help sustain regular SBD payouts to followers that meet the criteria while the bulk of posts are obtained programattically.
We believe that Steemians opting out of using their voting power on theirselves is meritorious and worthy of rewards. It serves to slightly offset the power balance against egregious self-vote abuse combined with upvote bots.
Would I like a Steem without ridiculously overpaid upvote bots? You betcha.
Would I like a Steem without self-voting? Damn straight!
The way the system is now, we must think strategically. The premium post feature is indeed a service. It is not a scheme to line one's pocket like most whale upvote bots. This is why I also envision a front end that will filter out not only self-voters but those feeding into that faulty "Pay-to-Play" economy.
Do the ends justify the means? I think so. Yes
