Taiwan is also known as shopping heaven – with cheap shoes, bags, clothes and more recently, their skincare products.
With an abundance of places to shop in Taiwan, those heading there for the first time may not be sure of where to go. Goodyfeed has compiled the top 10 places for you to tick off all your items on your shopping list.
1. TAIPEI SHIDA NIGHT MARKET 師大路夜市

With many night markets to visit, Taipei Shida Night Market is on the list for its wide variety o clothing, accessory stands and boutiques. While prices may start off high, store owners often relent after some haggling, and you’ll be able to get some clothes at a steal.
This night market also has many of Taiwan’s famous street snacks that you can munch on while you shop!
2. XI MEN DING 西門町

A favourite shopping spot for teenagers and young adults, Xi Men Ding is home to shops that offer unique clothing, bags and shoes. Touted as one of the must-go places in Taiwan, Xi Men Ding offers almost everything – including a theatre street for you to rest while catching a movie.
3. TIAN MU WEEKEND MARKET 天母

With the Taipei American School, one of the top international schools, as the centrepiece of the district, Tian Mu is known as the expatriate area due to its popularity with American servicemen in the 1950s.
There is a blend of both local and American culture in Tian Mu, with a number of streets housing small stores and boutiques to shop at. Tian Mu’s highlight tho, is the weekend market that happens from Friday to Sunday.
4. WU FEN PU 五分埔

Best known for being a wholesale market for clothing, Wu Fen Pu has a wide variety of clothing and accessories for everyone. Buy more than one piece of clothing and most store owners will offer you a discount!
For online shopaholics with a keen eye, you may notice that some blog shops sell clothes which you can find at Wu Fen Pu. Now you can save on the shipping fee and get your clothes at a cheaper price while you’re at Wu Fen Pu.
5. SKY BLUE BAG SHOP 天藍小舖

Bag lovers – this is the shop for you. Sky Blue bag shop sells a variety of bags, not just different in design but with a large range of colours as well. This wide selection can be seen the moment you step into the store.
One of the best parts about this store is their reasonable pricing, so make sure to put this on your list of go-to places in Taiwan.
6. ATT 4 FUN SHOPPING MALL

Previously known as New York New York, the mall has changed its name to ATT 4 Fun. This mall has a range of small to mid-brand stores and boutiques for different budgets and preferences. For the ladies – ladies fashion covers several floors so you can shop to your heart’s content.
There are also various marketing events happening during the weekends as ATT 4 Fun is amongst the busiest malls in the area.
7. ZHONG XIAO DONG LU 忠孝東路

Hailed as the shopping street of Taipei by Goodyfeed, Zhong Xiao Dong Lu gets busy from noon till late at night. There is a wide variety of shops here for those with different budgets – ranging from departmental store SOGO to small shops along the side streets and alleys.
Din Tai Fung also be found in Zhong Xiao Dong Lu – we promise you that it tastes a lot different compared to Singapore’s Din Tai Fung.
8. ESLITE SPECTRUM SHOPPING MALL

Named after the famous Eslite Bookshop, this new mall only opened its doors in 2013. Those looking to find unique souvenirs can head here as it offers various artistic and cultural wares that are probably not sold anywhere else in Taiwan.
The Eslite Bookshop can also be found in the mall, together with a number of teahouses specialising in loose leaf tea.
9. XINYI DISTRICT SHIN KONG MITSUKOSHI DEPARTMENT STORE 信義區新光三越

This Japanese departmental store is your one-stop solution for all your shopping needs. It has become so popular in Taipei that people from all parts of Taiwan head there to shop.
This mall offers Japanese products and international brands, but is also home to small boutique shops that offers one-of-a-kind products. The large Cineplex in the building also means you can also treat yourself to a movie and relax after shopping.
10. TAIPEI 101 MALL

Undeniably the most renowned mall in Taipei, Taipei 101 earned its name for being the tallest building there. Small boutique shops offering local wares and high-end international brands can all be found within this mall, making it a must-go stop on every traveller’s list.
You can also enjoy the view from their restaurants on the fifth floor or head to the foodcourt on the first level for affordable Taiwanese delicacies.
Those who wish to indulge can book a spot for the restaurant in its tower where you can dine while admiring the view in luxury. Alternatively, you can pay to head straight to the top of the building just for the view.
