Some are saying Silver is the best priced commodity available. The most reasonability price investment, etc... But, the price is way higher than it was last year. Oh, well. The Local Coin Shop had these fractional, US Franklin Half Dollars. At 0.361 Troy Ounce, they are a little over 1/3 oz. each. These were the best of about a thousand, mostly Kennedy Silver Halves, in the Junk Box.
As usual these beauties were rescued from the junk box. With the 1955 Franklin Half Dollar being the lowest mintage, of the series, there was a time when they were sought after by the collectors. Now, they are all basically the same price, except for the high-end graded varieties.
When the Hunt Brothers tried to corner the Silver Market, around 1980, many of the common US Silver Halves were melted/smelted back into bullion. Thanks for looking and keep on stacking.
You'll be glad you bought these Half Dollar Coins...
