5G makes our mobile phone ugly? Antenna pot.

in #smartphone6 years ago

First we should know what is '5G'and we need to know the 5g seniors.
1G transmits analog voice.
2G introduces digital voice (such as CDMA).
3G brings mobile data (such as CDMA2000).
4G LTE pioneered the mobile Internet era.
5 means five generation mobile network,as we know before five generation we have 4.But if u use 5G,you won’t miss 4G. Because 5G will bring you a completely different experience than in the past 5G not only connects people, but also interconnects machines, objects and terminals. It will achieve a higher level of performance and efficiency, giving new user experiences and connecting new industries. 5G will deliver peak rates of up to several Gbps, ultra-low latency, huge capacity and a more unified user experience.

But there is a saying that every smart phone that finally appears in front of us is a product of compromise. Of course, we can also use the word 'balance' from another angle. At this stage, balance is mainly used for design and function. A stronger shooting system with a prominent camera, a thinner body and a longer lasting battery life are unsolvable contradictions at this stage. The higher transmission rate and lower latency of 5G will change people's lifestyle, lay the foundation for the popularity of Internet of Things, and open the door to AI life. It seems that the 5G era is a good thing. However, have you ever thought that the smart machine in the 5G era may be much more ugly than the current one?
Speaking of the antenna, I am sure that everyone is familiar with it, but when it comes to the antenna in the smart phone, many people may not know it. The antenna in the smart phone is a small piece of metal inside the fuselage. Mobile data requires an antenna, Bluetooth requires an antenna, and GPS requires an antenna. As long as signal transmission is involved, an antenna is required.
The lengths of the different antennas are not the same. This mainly involves the frequency band and wavelength of the signal. The higher the frequency band, the shorter the wavelength and the shorter the antenna (approximately 1/4 of the wavelength).
The research and development staff of 5G startup Movindi said that the finger and face will produce a "proximity effect" in front of the 5G millimeter wave antenna. Not only will the signal drop, but even the signal may be directly blocked, and the probability of death grip is greatly increased.
However, the bigger challenge is still behind.
Today's popular full-screen design will be the biggest challenge in the 5G era antenna design. Unlike many people think, the most difficult part of a comprehensive screen design is not the screen design, but the antenna design. In general, the antenna in a mobile phone is 360° omnidirectional, so it is necessary to avoid metal in a certain range in the vicinity. This range is the “clear area”.
The clearance area of the past antenna is often placed on the "chin". However, the comprehensive screen design greatly reduced the area of the "chin", and a whole piece of metal-coated screen completely obscured the front of the phone, which puts very high demands on the design of the antenna.
Specifically, since the 5G millimeter wave is very short, the interference from the metal is more serious, requiring at least a clearance area of 1.5 mm. When the 5G phone is blocked by the human hand and the face, the signal will start to find the lowest bit error rate band. Therefore, when designing a 5G terminal, the position of the antenna installation should be suitable from the beginning, making it easy to find the most suitable frequency band.
n addition to receiving performance, space coverage and heat dissipation issues need to be considered. The wider the spatial coverage, the more favorable the user's wireless experience, but the wider the spatial coverage, the more often the mobile phone design is sacrificed.
Gentlemen and ladies, this is my own myth, and there are some collected materials. If there is something wrong, please give guidance, thank you......
