THEME: Maintaining Christian Integrity
TOPIC: Sin Makes A Person An Idiot
TEXT: Judges 16:4-31
MEMORY VERSE: Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord".
OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, the participants will be able to:
1.Relate the word sin as an idiot
2.Explain why a sinner is an idiot
3.Resolve to take a stand against sin and avoid being regarded as an idiot.
4.Recognize that God still forgives sinners.
INTRODUCING THE LESSON:
Sin means missing the mark, coming short of the glory of God.A sinner, after all his scheming and labour bestowed on sin, reaps notting but death as a reward. Yet he starts all over again, what a foolish adventure. The idiot is a foolish animal without reasoning, so is a man who continues in his sin, reaping vanity after vanity. This lesson is Kent to make us dead to sin and alive to the spirit of God.
STUDY QUESTIONS
- (a) Was Samson right or wrong in going down to Philistine to marry a wife? Judges 14:4; Exodus 34:16
(b) How would you describe Samson's continued stay with Delilah after she fail in many attempts to betray him? Verses 6-14: Romans 7:24
(c) Did Samson get a good reward for his love for Delilah? See verses 15-16 - (a) From the introduction above can you relate Samson as a simmer and an idiot?
(b) In the light of 2 Timothy 2:22, What should have been the attitude of Samson towards Delilah? - What is the basis for hope, for people like Samson and Delilah? (Isaiah 55:6-7;1john 1:9).
CONCLUSION
A fool could be made wise, a simmer could be forgiveness. It is said that "the admittance of ignorance is the first step towards knowledge." Just as Samson saw his mistake and admitted that he had sinned and asked for Mercy, we too can do the same, remember 1 John 1:19. Our sins shall be blotted away and we become wise before God instead of fools.
