The Best New Splinterlands Reward Cards

Greetings, battle mages!

The new Splinterlands season has started pretty well for me. I have tried new strategies with the new cards I bought from the Glint shop. The only issue I'm having is to decide to which rarity class to put my hard-earned Glint. There are good upgrading options in each one of them and I'm tempted to buy common cards after each successful battle.

I am currently in a stage where I'm earning enough Glint to buy one Legendary card after each season and even though each one of them is a great asset, it's the Surly Drunk I'm really after.

This 1-mana melee card would perfectly with my Fire strategies using Tarsa as a summoner to buff melee attacks by one point. It's a shame that we cannot trade them without unlocking the shackles first but perhaps I'll get lucky soon or maybe I get really lucky and score a gold foil Drunk!

This beer-loving guy would be an absolute killer in the lower-mana battles!

Usually, the 1-mana cards are just something to fill the gaps or to force the opponent to waste an attack. Surly, however, could pose a real threat especially when used with a summoner boosting his melee attack.

In the Little League, he would help snipe out the weakest enemy units using his opportunity ability. In level 2 Surly would gain an additional speed point helping him be among the first ones to attack.

And yes, I would prefer a gold foil version. 😎

Nimbledook Explorer

The one card I do have and now on level 2 is Nimbledook Explorer. This Life splinter unit doesn't have any attack strength to start with but when positioned well with the right guys, Explorer could become a very lethal support unit.

When playing with Life I have this 3-unit team with different variations that I use in low-mana battles. The strategy is based on Aves Sturgis and his Weapons Training ability.

Aves will teach two adjacent units the art of magic but these units have to be the ones without any attack strength. One that I regularly use is Pelacor Conjurer who has enough health at level 4 to fight as a tank unit. His Magic Reflect ability helps against monsters with magic and the Flying ability against ranged and melee units.

To make Pelacor Conjurer an even tougher nut to crack, I have now started using Nimbledook Explorer as a part of this 3-unit taskforce. His Protect ability is made for this strategy! Not only will he help the Conjurer but also make Aves be able to take more hits as he is the weakest link here with the least health points.

The Explorer In Action

Here's a great example of Nimbledook Explorer fighting alongside his new friends: link to battle.

Even though I was up against a very powerful summoner(level 4 Vega) with a strong team, I was able to handle this one quite easily as they had to waste attacks on the armor of my units. All thanks to Nimbledook's Protect ability. When it was our turn, our magic did its tricks.

Arachne Weaver

Another monster from the new reward set I have grown to like is Arachne Weaver. This Epic Death -splinter unit comes with a Corrupted Healing ability which it will use to heal friendly monsters. However, there's a catch: this kind of healing will also reduce the maximum amount of the healed unit's health. Still, a very nice ability!

Here is an example of the battle of Archne Weaver practicing this sort of black magic.

Maybe it's not as good as traditional tank healing but those front-line units would have probably died anyway and still, Arachne Weaver gave them important extra seconds. What also makes this ability so great is the fact that the Weaver will heal other units as well. This should work well if the opponent has an idea of withering down the last units of our team.

All in all, it was about a damn time we'd get a healer to join our Death teams. Arachne Weaver will do.

Conclusion

Interestingly enough, I still haven't found a Rare monster I'd fancy so much that I would start spending Glint on Rare cards. Then again, it's probably just a matter of time before I see someone using a Rare card against me with good positioning or pairing up it with another unit and therefore creating a new strategy.

This is actually a great aspect in Splinterlands as we might discover new strategies and new use cases for cards even after a long time. So there's no hurry to focus on Rare ones, meanwhile, I am accumulating Commons and Epics, and trying to pull that Surly Drunk after the end of this season. Fingers crossed!

So, the results are in, well, not the results actually because I decided this myself but the 3 best Splinterlands Reward cards are:

  1. Surly Drunk
  2. Nimbledook Explorer
  3. Arachne Weaver

DISCLAIMERS:

TON mini-apps I'm currently playing:

🔹 Blum - play mini-game and complete tasks to earn Blum points (pre-market trading live on Whales Market!)
🔹 Wizzwoods - cool strategy game (Berachain + Tabi)
🔹 TON Station - very simple farming game with a lot of potential
🔹 Agent 301 - perhaps the next $DOGS
🔹 Tomarket - hurry up! airdrop in October

❗ I don't recommend investing any money into TG games. The actual airdrop might not cover the amount you put in.
