Full Time Steemian..
That doesn't sound too bad am I right? - However, it's a long, long way.. And even if I got lucky enough to reap that much rewards, I wouldn't quit my freelancing job. - But I would probably cut away some of the working hours at least.. ;)
In this post, I'll share the details..
First of all, to make this as accurate as possible, from my exact situation right now.. I decided to count all my published posts from 30 days ago until today. (Sorry for all the screenshots, but this is to make this a detailed & accurate posts).
- So, let's begin! (Make sure to scroll down quickly to avoid these screenshots as fast as possible! :D)
There you have it. - All of my posts 30 days back in time until now.
Now, the "fun" part begins. - The part where I'll count all of the earnings.
So, I won't take into consideration the author/curator split or anything like that. We'll just use the actual amount it states. - It's much easier that way!
All in all, it equates to: $748,36
I do know that some of them are still pending, but we go with the numbers we have right now.
- 63 posts in 30 days. And $748,36 in earnings..
That's 2,1 post per day.. And $11,87 per post. (63/30 = 2,1)(11,87 x 63 = 748,36)
In Sweden, where I live..
We earn about 30,000 SEK per month. Before Taxes.
That would be: $3451,97
I'm not totally sure of this but I'd say that we probably end up with something like this, after taxes: $2588,97
- That basically means, that I'm $1840,61 short this month, based on the numbers we have. (2588,97 - 748,36 = 1840,61 )
And while we're at it.. Let's play with some more numbers.
Let's say that I got $11,87 per post (as stated above). - That would mean that I have to publish 218.11 posts per month. ( 2588,97 / 11,87 = 218,11)
- And seriously.. That's impossible. - That equals to 7,27 posts per day. (218,11 / 30 = 7,27).
That being said..
You don't only earn from upvotes on your own published content. You also earn if you upvote other people's content so that's a good thing. - On the other hand, I don't earn the amount's stated on the screenshots either, so I guess it's still kind of impossible at this time.
And sure, if SBD/STEEM where to hit $10 instead of ~$2, it would make everything 5 times as easy for me.. - But, we don't aim at "easy", because that's not who I am.
- I'm a hard working freelancer & Steemian who would love to give my working hours the middle finger every now and then..
- And best part is, that even though I have a long, long way ahead of me.. I won't give up.
In reality, I will probably never be able to make a full time living on Steemit.. And I'm okay with that. - But hey, I'm allowed to try and I will do exactly that.
After all.. $748,36 extra for one months "work" on Steemit.. - Is amazing!
Oh wow!! Those numbers seem interesting.
But hey, hardworking and determination can make you successful.
While I complete my management college, steem will help me make my living.
That's awesome, I'm glad for you :)
I'm nowhere near that level but that is my dream too. To be a fulltime content creator.
I estimate that a steady 1800 per month would be good enough. Not as much as the job, but a lot less frustrating.
i use numpy, scikit and matplot every day :] nice username.
Thanks!! Glad to see someone got the reference :))
Looks like you have a trail on your comments though, so that's definitely a great start! - I'm sure you will be able to reach that goal with time. :)
I would love the idea of becoming a full time steemit content creator, but part of what makes me leery of going all in is the massive price fluctuations that we have seen. If the price of steem drops like it has in the past, it would immediately be a massive pay cut. I think people often see these things with rose tinted glasses and assume that since steem is up over $2.50 that it will always stay this way when we know that this is simply not the case. The price of steem could just as easily crash tomorrow as it is to shoot up again.
I don't say any of this to be a Debbie Downer, I'm just saying that there is an element of risk that needs to be taken into account here as well. I'll be damned if the price of steem affects the content that I create for the platform though. Everyone needs to have multiple income streams and Steemit is a beautiful platform to have in the income portfolio.
I hear you and that's the reason I'll probably never quit being a freelancer either. That, and the fact that I love working as a freelancer. However, I would love to minimize my working hours as a freelancer. That would've been truly amazing. - Thank you for your comment! :)
I'm still working on becoming a freelancer. My industry (mortgage broker) makes it incredibly difficult to go out on your own especially at a young age so I'm working on building other skills off the clock that are more in demand in the freelance world (copywriting, editing, etc.).
It's all about balance and it sounds like you are well on your way to finding a great balance there @hitmeasap.
Yeah, I'm trying to find a good balance between both freelancing and steemit.. And it feels like I'm doing a pretty good job so far. However, I still spend a few more hours on Steemit than I probably should at this point.. But it's so addictive! :D
This post received a 63% upvote from @randowhale thanks to @hitmeasap! For more information, click here!
Good analysis.
I think that earning a full-time living with Steem is possible, since as you get more followers and as your steem power increases, you will tend to get a higher income from your publishing.
Also, 8 posts per day, while it seems high is doable, since it would mean spending an hour per post (assuming you work 8h a day).
Good luck!
Thank you for your comment. Well, it might be doable, but 8 hours per day is probably what I spend already.. :D - As I'm not native in English and I love steemit, I'm probably spending even more than 8 hours per day as it is already.. :D
The amazing thing is that a lot of people in the world will be able to live of creating original quality content.
Steemit is truly incredible.. Period. :)
Or you could move to another country with a much lower cost of living and live comfortable on your $1500 a month! Great post cheers
True, but that's out of the question. I can't just pack up my things and move to another country. That doesn't work in my reality. Good thought but it wouldn't work for me. - Thanks for your comment though, I appreciate it :)
I hear what you are saying, I'ts like me living in Sydney $750 a week would just pay for the rent! But for other people living in other parts of the world, that would be classed as a huge income, and they could live like a king. Cheers
Yeah. It's actually rather cool in my opinion, but it's also extremely annoying at times.
Here in India you can literally live a high five life with just 500$ per month
Damn Sweden is expensive
Yeah.. I don't know. I haven't lived in any other country so I can't really compare Sweden with other countries. But I think it's rather expensive here.
Keep your STEEM dream alive.
Don't worry. I will! :)
It is amazing. But I'd rather keep on gathering that steem (maybe trade a little) since it will skyrocket in value over time.
I hear you! - If I were to rely on Steemit as my main source of income, which I don't and probably never will be, I'd definitely "hodl" a great deal of SP and use just a fraction of the earnings myself. - Oh, wait. That's the exact same goals I have in mind already... :D
It's hard breaking out actually. I've been here since July.
The average my posts made me over the year is ~5$ a day.
Now it has picked up. I think I'm making around 25$ a day.
That' still very low.
I think I have to ditch photography or dial it way back. Concentrate more on photography tutorials, science articles and something like that.
Or maybe I just don't have a social media personality :D
So... even if I wanted to. I doubt I'd make it.
Well, 659 followers speaks for itself. You had 658 and now, I followed you. However, I was certain I already followed you.. My bad :S
That being said, 650+ followers and $25 per day.. That's actually awesome. That's ~$750 per month, for someone who doesn't even think they have a "social media personality", don't you think? :)
Imagine if you continued in the same path one more year.. - The possibilities awaits! :)
yeah, sure. That's why I stayed on Steemit even when it went for under 9 cents. I believed it will pay off and I had fun doing it.
Most of those followers appear to be quite passive and at least 200 came in the last month, mostly new users. For someone with 650 followers I hardly get 100 upvotes on my posts. Usually between 40 to 80. Thankfully there are older users that give my posts some value. I don't wanna end up with thousands of followers that don't really appreciate what I do. I think a change is needed If I want to attract more people of the core users and I'm doing way too much photography posts as it is.
I can still remember when "krnel" was getting 1$ for his posts. I earned more than him in september, but his account skyrocketed after his first month. His content was interesting and well put together. In the same time I kept doing photography, but never got anywhere with it. (well I do make 700$ a month and I'm happy for that, but others make 700$ per post and I guess I've always wanted a bigger piece of the pie than I've been served til now :D)
As you said, possibilities await... but I can mix it up a bit. A little change never hurts.
I hear you.. And I can relate to the things you say. - I have 500+ followers now and I had to take a break from Steemit, had the break before it went low and came back during the time it was still low but up-going..
So yeah, it feels I missed out on multiple things during that time. Both rewards but also followers. However, that's in the past now and I can't do anything about it. Just like I can't do anything about my power down I had to do.. - The future awaits.
I've seen several people starting out around the same time as me, people who got incredible rewards on their first/second posts. And had payouts of $2-5,000.. Meanwhile I made ~$500 from my posts at the same time.
Sure, I've always been incredible happy and satisfied with the results I've had, as Steemit truly changed my life, in a good way. Both in terms of $ but also in other ways. - Even so, I can't help to envy these people a little.. I want that piece of the pie too..
Some people also get's supported by whales from the get-go, meanwhile I've been struggling alone, for myself, with a bunch of low-sp-upvotes, that doesn't generate too much rewards. - However, I love the upvotes & comments I get. No matter if it's worth $0 or $100. - These upvotes can and most likely will be worth more in the future so if I can encourage these people from today, when they upvote my content, until then.. - I'll be on my way to create something truly awesome. - And that's what I'm trying to do.
Life isn't fair and some people will have more luck than me.. But I will increase my own luck by hard work, dedication and effort. :)
That being said.. If you feel like you should change things up a bit, I'm all for it. - Do what you feel is best. - Even if you fail or if that doesn't work out well for you.. It's never too late to change things once again. I'm rooting for you! :)
Thanks! With hard work and dedication we can't fail :D
Btw. I joined in July 2016 too, so I envy you. ;)
I think if you stick to it, it can definitely happen! At the rate you are earning now, that's 1/2 my monthly income so it's nothing to sneeze at! 😉
Oh, I would never sneeze at the income I have today. Not a chance. But I do wish I'd become even more established so I could reap even more rewards at the end of the day. - However, a full time income seems almost impossible for me, even though I know, that in reality, it is possible & likely, for several authors.
You are already at a high level . Keep steeming steemit is just on its beginning.
We will see huge things in here .
We will and I already have seen huge things here, and I believe and hope, that I will become an even more established steemian in the future. - That's my goal here. :)
Great post, upvoted and followed :)
Thank you, I appreciate it! :)
Great post and enlightening for those that would aspire to work full time as a Steemian.
Your work is quality though so I don't see why given time you can't split Steeming 1/2 &1/2 with your other work.
Thanks for sharing.
I follow you already and will be interested to see how the next month wotks out.
@tremendospercy
A 50/50 split between my work and steemit would be truly fantastic in the future! - Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it :)
Steem is much better than all the other social media out there.
Steemit is what Facebook should have been by now if you ask me. There's no way I'll go back to crapbook or twatter again.
Well Said
