Steem is not only crypto currency but has an active community attached to it. Each community member has a value (see Myspace as the worst example or it Steemit could become a litte Facebook). You must consider both. I find investing in crypto should be done piece by piece and never all in one time like you might do for other assets. There are times of down turn but suddenly it could reverse again. It is a matter of risk related to other assets such as Fiat Currency. Who knows what in 2 years will be in the fiat world.
