The Iceberg of Identity

in #story7 years ago

Tell the story of the Titanic, what was underwater sank, just like people, you only see about 10% of what they really are, you only use 10% of the brain, etc.

What we see are ACTIONS, which are based on DECISIONS, which turn into RESULTS that determine the BEHAVIORS of the people. This is very superficial; only going out to run will bring changes of very short term.

Then we get to the part under the water. The most contributing factor to the BEHAVIORS are the SKILLS. We like to do things that we can do well. Use the example of cooking: good chefs like to invite their acquaintances to the house and prepare delicious food, while bad cooks usually go to a restaurant, etc.

Then, the most contributing factor to the ABILITIES are the BELIEFS. Use the Mathematics example, noting that test scores did not change your belief if it was already strong enough. BELIEF is something that you think is true but that is not necessarily a fact. How to change ... Event of significant emotion in your life can annihilate even the strongest BELIEF, or you can CHOOSE to change a BELIEF. You will have to strengthen but the decision is extremely powerful.

The most contributing factor to BELIEFS are VALUES ... If your greatest VALUE in life were success you would have a very different range of BELIEFS than someone whose greatest VALUE was love ... VALUE is something you think to be important.

However, the biggest factor in a long-term change is your IDENTITY. Whatever you say with the words I AM creates your IDENTITY. I AM are the most powerful words in the Spanish language, only surpassed by I CAN NOT and I DO NOT ... Just imagine when you added I AM a dad to your IDENTITY ... What VALUES, BELIEFS, SKILLS and, therefore, , BEHAVIORS and RESULTS changed .

Of course around an Iceberg there is water, and surrounding every human there is an ENVIRONMENT. A VICTIM lets its ENVIRONMENT form it, a VICTOR forms the ENVIRONMENT that suits them, or does not insert it into the ENVIRONMENT.

He now points out that the resistance in the formula of change comes from the lack of change of IDENTITY ... This is where the bond of BEING-HAVING-HAVING becomes very apparent. The BEING is the underwater in the figure of the iceberg, the DOING is the BEHAVIOR and the ACTIONS and the HAVING are the RESULTS. If you are not getting the RESULTS you want, what DECISIONS are you or are you not taking (consciously or subconsciously) that stop you from taking the right ACTIONS?

And if your BEHAVIOR does not match your desired RESULTS but you have the SKILLS then the problem must be deeper. Do you remember the example of the diet? While we approach the BELIEFS and VALUES towards the IDENTITY it is time to recognize and discard our Guilt / Excuses / Negations if we are going to commit ourselves to achieve the RESULTS that we are looking for. And through affirmations we can gradually diminish these LIMITING BELIEFS and VALUES to reinforce our IDENTITY toward what we WANT to BE.
