The Ford Fiesta, my first hatchback. Bought this guy somewhere late of 2013. At first I never even looked at it and it never caught my attention. Back when I was shopping for a new car a few came to my list but not the Ford.
The cars that are on my list that day includes;
- Perodua Myvi Lagi Best
- Mazda 2
- Proton Satria Neo
- Suzuki Swift
- Honda Jazz
So, after many days of pondering asking questions I went on to test drive the Perodua Myvi, somehow dad didn't approve of the car. Then I went to test drive the Mazda 2 but it didn't really caught my eye. After I then test drove the other 3 cars and none really caught on to me, I was left thinking again on what should I buy. A few days after when I was watching a video on YouTube, an ad caught my attention. It was the Ford Fiesta. The next day I quickly drove to the nearest Ford showroom after a brief test drive, I told myself I am going to buy this car. Night of the same day I did some research about the car, found out it has a major gearbox/clutch problem but it was offered with 5 years warranty and 60000km free services.
Without further thinking I went ahead and apply a loan for the car. After many many many weeks. Alas, got myself a new car. on the second day first thing I did was to test the top speed(forgot about the break-in period but to hell with it) and managed to get close to 220kmh, having being satisfied I went on to drive and meet my girlfriend in Perlis which is around 400km away then came back to KL racking up mileage of 800+km. Within a week I had passed the car break-in period made a booking with service center for a check up. The service advisor was quite astonished that I managed to get 1000+km within a week of getting the car.
After a year of ownership, the infamous gearbox problem had finally decided to appear, my car was jerking and juddering violently that I decided to take it in to servicing. Service center has decided that my clutch needs replacing. So, I left my car for about a week. This is where changing clutch has been an annual event for me. Fast forward to today, the car has almost been about 4 years with me and the ODO racking up to 138500km. It has been a fairly reliable car to me with much of the problems arising was at the drivers fault. Eg; bent rear axle, which I have not replaced yet since 2016. I have had a love and hate relationship and good memories with the car, it has been there for me even though I've neglected it sometimes. Now I just need to gather enough funds to repair whats broken and perhaps back to joining my fellow car enthusiast for a tougeh session.
Washed it last night after 2 weeks of sitting outside in the rain.
Headlights need fixing. hmm....
p/s; I am not good with photography, but I will try to improve.
The last time I actually heard of the Ford Fiesta was during American Idol, which looks pretty cool but I actually kind of like the honda jazz.
But till now I never own anything higher end than my trusty little kancil who has been with me for 10 years and still majority working fine except the need of changing the absorb-er, made an overhaul (due to gasket problem) and occasionally gear trouble which I will need to save up to change.
Perhaps the next car I might look into the hybrid; but right now my savings have other more urgent matters to be set aside.
Good effort in telling a story of your car. Keep it up @jayjml

Thanks 😁. I like the new Jazz, old one not so much.
