My opinion about the fact that the Research Center increases the storage capacity of your resources is that ITS AWESOME! very helpful :D
My current research center Lvl is 13 with skills for 14 being upgraded now :D

enough to farm the inactive planets around me and growing in numbers every day from my other planets :D
I have already met new Steemians and made friends or established a resource trading relationship through the game.
one specifically near my alt, I am in DELTA and DACH, i had a fellow DACH member attacking me for exploring near them and they destroyed my explorers I had at the time there, i proceeded to script a python attack bot and extort him on steemit for 3 days until he wanted me to stop. we are friends now :p
I wish as an improvement for the game that maybe in galaxy when you click on a planet 
maybe it shows a tiny popup of resources available and shipcount.
