TGIF!
Yes, you heard it right. Boracay is taking a 6 months to 1 year break from the tourists.
The island of Boracay is a top holiday destination in Philippines to both local and foreigns because of it's powdery white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, majestic sunset and night life. No question why it attracts more than a million tourists and an estimated €627 million ($772.5 million) in revenue every year.
The tropical island is stretching 7 kms long and white beach is about 4 kms. The long beach is divided into three sections known as Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3.
Station 1 is the northernmost and has the widest beachfront where prime hotels & resorts are also located.
Station 2 The busiest & noisiest part of the island.
The commercial part where most shopping, eating and partying happens. Boracay nightlife is pulsating with many bars and restaurants serving food, drink and fun until the very late evening (drink till you drop!).
Station 3, the southernmost section of the island. The lesser crowded and lower price area. This is also where we stayed during our travel back in 2011
The long white beach from Station 1 to the southernmost of Station 3 is open to the public, so one can relax or swim wherever spot they like regardless of the hotel location.

CONDÉ Nast Traveler: The Best Islands In The World 2017
Along with Cebu, Palawan, Mallorca of Spain, Mykonos of Greece were named the world's best islands in the 2017 Readers' Choice of Condé Nast (US media company) and Boracay got the top notch!
Travel + Leisure: World's Best Island
Boracay was awarded as the 2012 best island in the world from the U.S based international travel magazine.
While appreciated, the crowded Boracay is not exactly in my top list. When it comes to beaches, I usually prefer unspoiled or isolated ones like the Mantique Island of Camiguin.
Boracay Issues
Major problems and issues of the island's temporary closure. From environmental degradation, traffic congestion, to insufficient solid waste management, illegal construction, property disput and most of all, destruction of the natural beauty of the coasts.
Solution For The Better
On March 15, the DENR recommended the closure of the island for one year to give the government an ample time for the undisrupted implementation of the island's restoration.
This move will surely make a huge impact and affect the tourism of the island but for me, it's for the better of the precious island.
It’s time for real action to save Boracay, before it’s too late!

Want to have your post on the map too?
I definitely agree with this solution. Our environment also needs a break, else, people would continue to destroy it.
Exactly !
I heared there is also another reason why duterte is closing down the island. Apparently they will be building a casino with chinese investors! Hopefully they accept steem so i can have a gamble too :P
Yes, I've red that too.
First, they're going to fix the problems and prepare it for something much bigger for a brighter future. Hopefully Steem would be part of that future! hahah 😜
