"Who stabbed me?"
image
That is the question of Umar bin Khatthab when a knife was thrown five times into his back when he led Shubuh prayer, in the clear morning in the city of Medina.

The companions who brought her home answered sadly,

"Firuz".

Umar's face suddenly shone brightly and happily he said,

"Blessed be the name of Allah, that I am not killed by Muslims."

Subhanallah.
What a glorious heart it is to be buried in the great man's chest.
Who is in pain and rage before the death does not regret the death that will override it.
Because Umar is convinced that death in whatever state is solely the determination of God's fate.
He rejoices because his murderer is Firus, a Persian youth slave of Majusi.

And the murder was committed against him as Umar defended the truth and justice that was his view of life.

Because Umar bin Khattab as the caliph did not hesitate to defend the rights of the weak, but also not shyly defended the rights of the tycoon.

One does not defend it by looking at who he is, but rather by observing it honestly and thoroughly, whether it should be defended or not based on the balance sheets of justice it adopts.

Firuz ... the Persian slave had come to him, complaining to his master about the tax set by Mughirah bin Shu'bah, the employer.
He thinks the tax is too heavy over it.

"What do you do?"
Umar asked then.

"I work together, as carpenters, painters, and blacksmiths,"
Firuz replied.

Umar then calculates between taxes and income.
After careful consideration, Umar then replied,

"The amount of tax that your employer determines is not bigger than the kind of work you do."

The decision of the Caliph did not satisfy Firuz.
He was angry and hurt, and kept revenge on Umar.

That's it.
At the time the mosques were organized, Umar stood in front of the Qibla to start the Shubuh prayer, Firuz snatched from the courtyard of the mosque while drew a knife.
Without delay, the Persian slave instantly stabbed Umar repeatedly until the large body was stuck to the floor with blood spraying out of its gaping wounds.

Umar did not cursed his killer.
And Umar did not condemn his companions who were unable to prevent the killing.
Because Umar always looks inside at all times.

It does not look outward.
He knew almost everything that was out there was pseudo.
It is impossible to obtain the truth when the human view is just around the corner, and unwilling to look into itself.
By knowing himself, Umar did not object to leaving this wonderful world.
He knew, that's forever the end of human journey.

حاسبوا أنفسكم قبل أن تحاسبوا

haasibuu anfusakum qabla an tuhaasabuu

"Count yourself, before you are counted,"

Thus says Umar bin Khattab in every opportunity.

Muhasabah_, (counting one's self), is the last charity in human beings that can prevent from blaming each other and then destroy each other.

The continuation of muhasabah is the awareness of the mistakes that have been committed.

Some Shufi people accompany this muhasabah with mu'aqabah_, (self-punishing) _.

Rabi'ah Al-Adawiyah had forgotten not to perform the prayers of Sunnah that he used to do.
He was so sorry to run mu'aqabah.
He bought a slave with almost all his belongings, then set him free.

Dzun Nun, a devotee and pioneer of other Sufism, humbled his own body when he found the mistake he had done.

Does this not include self-torture prohibited by the Shari'a?

Responding to that concern Imam Al Ghazali explained,

"If you impose a sentence on your assistant, your family members or your children for their wrongdoing, why are you harassing and not condemning the same sentence for yourself if you feel guilty?"

What is meant by the torture of self and by the shari'a is not justified, is that if the punishment is committed not to repay the offense, but rather as the "ritual service expression".

Because Maha Rahman does not want the resignation of His servants to endanger their safety and well-being.

The correct kinship according to the teachings of Islam is devotion to God that can spread the benefits and virtues to oneself as well as to fellow beings.

In the book Riyadush Shalihin it is told that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) never forbade his companions to perform fasting continuously, praying without stopping, and doing the act, which does not want to be married for life, the reason for being able to worship more fully to God.

Rasulullah insisted,

"I am a very devout man of God.
But I fast and I break.
I pray and I sleep.
And I have a wife. "
