Steemit Iron-Chef Round 1 Act 08 - Raw Chocolate Nut and Raisin Brownie with Grape Sorbet

in #vegan7 years ago (edited)

Here's my entry for this weeks
Steemit Iron Chef Act 01 Round 8 Grape challenge @progressive-chef, absolutely loving this challenge as there is a lot of room to be creative.
I brought some new plates and bowls this week and couldn't decide how to plate my dish. As you will see from my photos I had loads of fun plating it several different ways.

These are the ingredients I used this week...

Grapes
Raisins
Almonds
Hazelnuts and hazelnut oil
Raw cacao powder
Cacao chocolate bar
Bananas
Coconut sugar
Bottled mountain spring water

There were several processes to making this dish but each one very quick and easy! The main focus for me was the grape sorbet, as the challenge is GRAPES and everything else came together around it because you can't have ice cream with out a delicious brownie!

I absolutely love frozen fruits, just freezing grapes and eating then is divine but if you want to take it to the next level, make ice cream. It's really simple, just freeze the grapes and then blend them in a food processor, add a little lemon juice or nut milk like I did.

I actually made my own nut milk from almonds, again its so simple and tasty.
All you need is nuts, a blender, quality water and a nut milk bag. Once you squeeze the nut mixture in the special nut milk bag you are left with a smooth liquid and also the by product of nut mulch.

The nut mulch need not be thrown away! I hate wasting something that is perfectly edible. Thankfully there are loads of things you can do with it, like making this tasty BROWNIES which again were very quick to make.
Just process the nut mulch, add banana, chocolate (raw cacao preferably for health benefits), coconut sugar, extra flavoring if desired such as vanilla or I used hazelnut oil, you can also add extra nuts, raisins and sultanas.
Finally freeze!

When it's time for desert make sure you thaw it a little before serving, they do warm up very quickly so don't leave them out too long unless you like it really soft, which is also nice!

You may have noticed I also coated some frozen grapes with melted chocolate. The chocolate I made my self, sometimes I have bars of it stashed for this every purpose, I can just heat it up quickly and get dipping.
The frozen grapes have a really concentrated flavor, paired with the chocolate is the most satisfying little snack!

I haven't always been a big fan of raisins but as I started making my own raw chocolate I actually really enjoyed the combo, I guess the difference is the quality, it just tastes so much better and really works well on this brownie, giving it a few extra health benefits as well. It's really easy to make your own and i'll be sharing the full recipes very soon.

Everything is raw, refined sugar free, lactose free, gluten free, VEGAN and still delicious!!!

It really doesn't hurt to treat yourself when it's this easy and healthy. Apart from the time waiting for it to freeze, the total preparation time is 15 minutes and if you don't eat it all at once you will have enough for at least 12 servings and will stay fresh as its frozen!

This is a lovely recipe. There is just something about raisins and chocolate that goes well together, still not sure why, but it does :)

I know but I also need the crunch of the nut too :)
