Approaching dust storm which reached us within 5 minutes. Notice the dust to the right of the clouds, also called a Haboob.
We never received a drop of rain with this storm. Dust, wind and then it just petered out with a very beautiful rainbow!
Once the dust settled some, we had a very pretty sunset the opposite direction of the dust storm. All photos taken on August 28, 2017 with an iPad mini.
Monsoon runs from the end of June till about mid-September and during that time, we experience some wild weather. In the desert this mean dust storms, usually in late afternoon and early evening after the desert floor has been heated by the sun, churning up the monsoon storms.
Storms can be just dust, just rain, or dust, wind, rain, hail, the works. Wish we had received some rain with this tonight, maybe next time.
