LOL! I have a good friend who is a "successful" children's book author. When I say successful, he has lots of books published, a good agent and (recently) has publishers in bidding war over his latest book. Also the rights three of his books have been bought by various film companies. He works hard. He is also one of the poorest people I know. It looks like one of his books will be made into a film (buying rights does not guarantee a film will be made, you do get a small sum, but certainly not enough to retire on).
Writing is not a guarantee of wealth and one book is not going to secure your future. I appreciate how hard authors have to work to earn a living. That's why I just write for fun! Great post Michelle!
Thank you! That's the best policy, I think. Write for fun!
