2023 AND THE HOPE OF NIGERIANS

The political and economic atmosphere of our dear country Nigeria is becoming more and more tensed on a daily basis. The general elections are around the corner. And the economy is gradually being left unattended to. Every attention of our political leaders is now focused on the 2023 general elections. None of them is concerned with our economic situation any more, at least for now. All their plans and strategies now are how to either retain their current political positions or occupy higher seats. They are less concerned about what are currently going on in the country.

Till this moment, we are yet to have any resolution to Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) demands. And the issues have to do with the agreements made and sealed with the government in the past years and yet our so called governments failed to implement the agreements signed and sealed between the both patties. Students of higher institutions have been out of their various schools without any visible hope of how and when they will return to schools. This is a very unfortunate situation. Yet our so called political gladiators are only concerned about their personal interest. They are jostling from one political position to another without having the keen interest of the electorates at heart; while their children are being sent to schooling abroad.

And democracy is said to be the government of the people, by the people and for the people. In a true democratic setting, political leaders and appointees are to serve the electorates. They are not elected or appointed to be served. In the western worlds or nations where true democracy is being practiced, the political leaders have conscience. They are there to serve the populace conscientiously. But it is other way round in Nigeria. Unfortunately, these people (foreign political leaders) are not as religious as we are in Nigeria. But they serve their nations with fear of God and conscientious minds. While our own political leaders who claim to be more religious do the opposite simply because they lack conscience. There is no single fear of God in them.

Unfortunately, it saddens my heart greatly anytime I scan through both the economic and political situations of Nigeria and I see masses being brainwashed, used and dumped by these so called political leaders. I do wander when are we going to learn from the past and when do we take the rightful steps in order to move forward? The masses have been blindfolded by high level of poverty to the extent that parents sell their children for slavery or rituals as slow as one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) in the name of poverty. Where do we place the presence of God in this struggle? Why are we losing hope so easily? Where do we place the power God has given us?

My fellow Nigerians, it is true that Rome was not built in a day; but we must be ready to take the bull by the horns because the processing of building Rome started in a day. For Nigeria to become great again, we must be ready to say capital NO to the money bags politicians. All the stipends, tips and souvenirs being shared to you can never buy you future neither can they buy future for the generations to come. Therefore, we must stop fooling ourselves and do the needful by voting rightly. Whoever that buys your votes cannot give you any future. And for you to build a better future for yourself and your children, you must be ready to pay supreme sacrifice by ignoring the money bags politicians and vote in the right people into our governments. Please, let’s wake up and let’s be wise.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
