It's that last post for the year where I revisit my old year end posts in the past and cringe. Gonna make this a recurring that started back in 2022. A link to my Year End Blog for 2023.
The Purpose:
I check my old posts. They still exist beyond the 7 day payout and these aren't just attendance posts to collect autovotes. They tell me what the hell I was thinking at some points of the year, my dedication to the hobby blogging, and see who I was in the past compared to the present.
You can do this tradition too and now is the perfect time to get started for your future Hive throwback.
Based from my 2023 entry, I think I managed to accomplish most of the to do list just half baked.
- Continued pushing the portfolio building on those art accounts across other social media
- Made some time lapse videos but no podcast or voice overs
- Haven't minted an NFT yet.
- Got a new job that pays well and doesn't make me drag my feet to work on most days.
- Still holding on to HivePH and Hive stuff despite the life changes I went through for the year.
But did I grow as a person? yeah, I guess but everything just fell from expectations about the pacing but it's alright. My 2024 goals would just keep on building on what I lacked in 2023 but better.
New goals to add for 2025:
- Buy a rice cooker and start cooking something.
This idea hovered for a few weeks after I wanted to explore a new hobby. I know art should've been enough but I get easily frustrated by the slow progress and just want a sub activity to switch to.
- Learn zBrush for 3D modeling.
Same thought as above but I want to create 3D models just to expand my skill set in digital arts. Maybe this is where I'll get good at if I tried.
- Get better at my chosen career path
I've been putting more effort to my residency training than the previous job and this earned me some good compliments about my work ethics. But these compliments were supposed to be common in my old job had I got the right mindset. I knew it was just my drive that's lacking to do work and that got me failing a lot in the past. It wasn't a question of skill, just a lack of motivation to improve.
- Make a voice over video content and some NFT
It's a least likely goal I can achieve next year given there's a lot already going on but I'll try.
- Keep my Hive activity going.
I know there's a lot of stuff I missed for not being on Hive so much. I schedule posts but it's different when I can allot some more time to engage with other people beyond discord. It's great to see the same names still present but better if I can get to know more people in here.
For my future self that reads this at the end of 2025:
Keep trying to do better even if things don't work out the way you want.
Thanks for your time.
I'm guessing you're still the age where you cringe at what just happened last year XD I well remember manually transferring my old blog posts in both my big site migrations and seriously considering just deleting all posts from my 20s XD
Blender's sculpting has gotten pretty good if you want something free. I haven't done dynatopo sculpting for a while so I don't know if that's caught up yet though (last time I did it, getting things completely smooth was nigh on impossible because Blender just liked to flatten rather than smooth). If you already have ZBrush then carry right on. Warning in the event you haven't already started playing around with it, it's pretty addictive XD
Now another thing I have to warn you young whippersnappers about is seeing as it looks like you're still in the try everything phase, by all means try everything but don't expect to be able to focus on and get good at everything, there is a non-zero chance that you'll actually get good at everything but statistically there's a much higher chance that you burn out.
Always try to keep doing better, that's something that is definitely achievable :)
I started zBrush, they got a free version on iPad so I managed to play some of the parts but go back to the youtube tutorials again because of my short attention span to remember. It's fun. I'm hoping learning 3D will help me improve my lighting on 2D and also perspective. You're right about being in the try everything phase, feels like I'm missing out a lot if I stopped exploring but losing time to master something bites me back too. Hope next year I can actually get a lot of stuff done outside work for my soul. And I hope to see you active here too.
Cheers for 2025! I think your time zone relative to mine says you'll be 2 hours into the future, send me the lottery numbers.
Do they actually have a free version these days or is it still Sculptris? I remember being so mad when they grabbed that and then did nothing at all with it forever.
I've found 3d improved all my skills in the things you're hoping to improve so I hope that works out for you too :)
Though I hope you actually also keep improving at drawing as that completely eluded me, I cheat there and draw over my bases coz my 3d is a lot better than my 2d XD
zBrush on iPad has a free version, I'm just switching to different things then setting myself up to regret and should've just focused on one thing to get things done because that's the right thing to do~
Sometimes you need to jump around between things til you find what you want to focus on, because sometimes what you think you want to focus on is not it, and interests will wax and wane and go, and it's all good if you learned something, even if it was "this is not it" :)

I also find that the act of blogging is helpful, and the blogs themselves are helpful later, all to me.
Doing the blog is immensely helpful to me, both in the moment and later.
This is real value, more than any amount of votes.
!pimp
