People still blaming guns for the actions committed by their human owners. How come you guys aren't blaming the bullets? I mean they launch themselves out of the guns and actually cause the injuries and deaths.
Blame the schools because there must've been something triggering that set the shooter off. Oh errr ... I mean his weapons off. The guns must have dragged him to the school and begun firing themselves.
Same with nightclubs, concert venues, bars, movie threatres, offices. Firearms must feel this pull and subsequently drag their owners, against their will, of course, to the venue of choice in order to wreak havoc.
Then the bullets fly about all willy nilly because the guns, the guns made them do it!
FFS people. Those who kill are responsible. Their weapons are not. People have been bludgeoned to death with all manner of objects... hammers, crow bars, frying pan, rocks, mallets, mace, etc etc etc; stabbed with knives, pens, letter openers, swords, machetes, axes, nail files, katanas, screwdrivers, forks, staffs/staves, nail guns, drills, etc etc etc. They've been poisoned by untold substances as well. Is the solution really to just ban all the things?
Anything that shoots or looks like something that shoots? Firearms, paintball guns, BB guns, water guns, bubble guns?
Anything pointy or sharp? Silverware, toothpicks, sticks in the forest, nail files, screwdrivers, drills, saws, hardware, wood since it has the potential to be filed to a point, anything metal for the same reason, fence posts, gate posts, stilleto heels?
Gr-- uh... SOMEONE'S work boots smell pretty horrendous. So, if I trip, fall, land face down on one and die from the smell do you then ban work boots? Or feet?
Seriously though! This #BanAllTheThings mindset is ridiculous.
Humans commit atrocious acts against one another. A gun left on a table will remain there. No one will be killed by this unmanned weapon.
The act is committed by a HUMAN.
A HUMAN.
NOT. AN. INANIMATE. OBJECT.
If you leave a bomb somewhere, without any humans with ill intent having access to, or control of it, a bomb will remain in tact. Nothing will be destroyed and no lives lost.
Since the beginning of humankind there have been violent acts between humans. THAT is the issue. NOT the means with which they choose to carry out their acts.
For centuries people were hung or stoned to death. We aren't banning ropes or stones are we?!?
Humans are the one common thread in every atrocity.
If you seek to totally disarm the innocent, you are enslaving them and enabling those who wish to do harm to proceed without fear of any substantial form of resistance.
It is really that fucking simple.
