It took me about 3 days to create and render the 3D design of this design that you are seeing. Basically, it is a design of a western two-story house. I got the design from a designer I know, and I basically did this render for him.
He faced some unexpected technical issues. His PC broke down and had to be sent for service, leaving him unable to work for a week. That’s when I stepped in to help him meet a tight deadline. My role wasn’t just to render the design but to also create the 3D model from scratch. It was an urgent task, but I took it on with determination.
I used SketchUp software for the 3D modeling process. However, the challenge didn’t end there. The designer required the render to be done using V-Ray, which I had never used before. Honestly, if I hadn’t needed to render it in V-Ray, I could have completed the project a day earlier. But learning something new is always an opportunity, and this project pushed me to step outside my working zone.
To begin with, I had to install V-Ray on my system. Then, I spent hours watching YouTube tutorials to understand the basics of using this powerful rendering software. Applying what I learned was another story entirely—trial and error played a huge part. V-Ray is undoubtedly a nice tool, but as someone using it for the first time he faced a lot of problems .
On top of that, SketchUp crashed multiple times during the rendering process. I’m not sure why, but I suspect it had something to do with the size of the model and the high-quality settings I used. Resetting the software and rendering again took hours, and at one point, I spent an entire day troubleshooting and rendering until I finally got it right.
Anyway, the results of the hard work have been good. I couldn't believe that such a good result would come. The realistic details, lighting, and textures made all the hard work worth it. After rendering I further edited the images using Photoshop to enhance the colors and details. While the design only required work on the exterior for now the interior details weren’t part of the project.
While the process was stressful at times, I’m proud of what I accomplished. It feels amazing to see the outcome of all the hard work, and I’m glad I could help my designer friend in the process.
