Grateful for Granite, Day #6
![](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://img.esteem.ws/ozrv2htvij.jpg)
Today, our previous defeat already loomed before us. We began challenging each other to make it to the top. Despite my daughter's pleas, I hesitated to make a pact. I would rather not disappoint her so close to the top again. Let's just see what happens.
On the drive up, I started to feel a little headache. Figuring I had better head off any migraine at the pass, I took some medicine on a semi-empty stomach. Bad idea.
Excitement and determination pushed us forward with a steady, aggressive pace up the granite. I felt great, until my ears popped. Immediately, nausea set in as strong pressure squeezed my jaw and inner ear in a vice. My legs turned to jelly, my lips went cold and black specks in my eyes grew larger and merged until they blocked out half of my vision. As the saying goes, I'm not afraid of heights - I'm just afraid of the fall. Unless I stopped climbing immediately, I was going to perform a much more exciting way to descend the granite slope.
Everyone was telling me to stop moving. I'm not sure if the blood rushing in my ears was blocking them out - or just my stubborn streak to NOT let this Rock defeat me once again. I paused for a bit, recuperated, heard my baby's words in my ears, and made the decision that victory would be mine today.

On this day #6 of the Gratitude challenge - I'm thankful for the beauty of this world, specifically the Granite Dome that threatened to defeat me. Not today, Moro. Not today.
I learned how to use this lovely little slider tool from @silversaver888! She often uses it on her posts! Since seeing it, I've been waiting for the perfect set of pictures to try it out! Hope you enjoy my little victory today in these photos!
Wow.
Beautiful
it's pretty spectacular! can't believe I did it this time. thought i was gonna go for a ride down a granite slide :) heheheh
The beauty of the mountains is breathtaking! I am glad you pushed on and made it to the top. I was worth it in so many ways...
It really was worth it - and i'm SO GLAD that i was able to get up there!!!! to come that close - and not finish - aghhhhh it would be bad hehehe
View from the top is breathtaking 👍👍👍👍
Was it a hot day?
It was a pretty warm day - but up there... it was really nice at the top - Incredible to be up that high - and nothing around! just view view view :)
What a gorgeous view!! Definitely worth all the trouble
It was!!! hehehehe i'll never take medicine like that again though LOLOL ughhhh i felt so sick for that bit!!!!
Yes, that was not such a good idea. What amazed me though is how you pushed through despite it! I'm not sure I could have done that.
Hope you're all recovered now, well rested and all relaxed.
Xxx
Oh my goodness- it's stunning! What a vast and beautiful place. Well done for not freaking out when you were feeling so poorly- but pausing and then completing the climb. What an epic challenge (and completely worth if by the looks of your gorgeous photos!)
E x
It just seemed such a shame to get so close and not finish!!!!
I think a lot of things we're happening yesterday to make all that come on so quickly... But yep!!!
I was proud of myself for completing it too!!!
Thanks @eveningart!!!! ♥️ I wish that my pictures did it justice... But... Oh well. I have the memories hehehe
I hope you're feeling loads better today - and the altitude can't have helped with that pressure in your head either!! You should be- really proud, don't think I'd have made it up that far. Love the slider by the way- very effective E x
You know what the funny part is????
I live close to 5000 feet elevation! Lolol so I'm pretty acclimated! I had taken some medicine about a half hour earlier before starting to ascend and I think that started the nausea.....
And isn't that slider cool!?!?! I've been wanting to use it ever since I saw it on @silversaver888 posts. Then @monchhichi23 also used it!! I love how they save space and look really clean!
Yuk - there's truly nothing worse than that feeling! I used to be on regular medication that made me feel like that and it was hideous (and I wasn't trying to climb a mountain at the time).
Two things to be grateful for today - the insane beauty of nature that can take your breath away - and tech-geniuses who come up with awesome blogging tools ;) E x
Hehehehe yeah!!! You should take up the 7 day gratitude challenge!!!
😊
Just post once a day on something you're grateful for.. and use the tag

I like that idea - sounds like the perfect answer to week 2 for me :) Thanks for the suggestion x
