Prompt Image:

• Kireji (切れ字), a cut between the 1st and the 2nd verses, or between the 2nd and the 3rd; the cut can be grammatical, as a sign of punctuation, or it can be a cut in the meaning, like two different images.
• Kigo (季語), an explicit or implicit reference to a season, that defines the time of the year in which the haiku is composed or referred to.
• Sabi (寂), the sense of the inexorable passage of time, the beauty or serenity that accompanies the advance of age, when the life of the objects and its impermanence are highlighted by patina and wear or by any visible repairs.
• Wabi (侘寂), the taste for frugal and natural things, rustic simplicity, freshness or silence; it can be applied to both natural and artificial objects, or even non-ostentatious elegance.
• Mono no aware (物の哀れ), empathy with nature and human life; the "feeling of things", nostalgia, regret for the passing of time, understanding of the changeability and of the transience without suffering.
• Yūgen (幽玄), sense of wonder and mystery; it represents the state of mind produced by the inexplicable fascination of things, the feeling of an 'other' universe, full of mysterious unity.
• Karumi (軽み), beauty in simplicity; poetic beauty reflected in its simplicity, free from preconceptions and moral judgment.
• Shiori (しおり), gentleness; the levity and the delicate charm that radiates from the verses, where things are evoked in the reader without aggressiveness or excessive explicitness.

Submission deadline: Wednesday 21th November, 11:59 PM, GMT -7 (Pacific Daylight Time).
The results will be out on Thursday 22th November, 1:00 PM, GMT -7 (Pacific Daylight Time).
** I wish everyone good luck!**

It's really a very good and difficult picture. The exercises preferred by me are @adncabrera, @gracielaacevedo, @calluna, @felixgarciap and @mfunbee. My vote is for the exercise of @felixgarciap. It picks up well the elements that are essential, from my interpretation, of the reality that photography offers us: the hardness of the constructions, the contrast with the sky, the imposing presence of the statue, and that atmosphere of oppression that surrounds the earthly. And this he does with simple words, direct, but suggestive at the same time.
@agmoore stole the show for me this time
@calluan gets my vote
@calluna :)
My vote goes to @mfunbee. Enjoyed the haiku and the amazing participation displayed this round.
Oh, a bull statue
Sun shines on sand coloured stone
What a bright blue sky
Ahhh the more i read it, the more entertaining it is!
I think you nailed the light spirit a haiku should have. Your path is clear and I will follow your progress with interest!
Statue set in stone
Immune to warmth and shadow.
Beyond life's passions
I like the representation of the strength of a bull present in your haiku. It is like looking at the image of a cave painting and feeling that energy reflected. Nice work.
Thank you! I'm not much of a haiku writer--it's a new adventure for me. I just listen to my heart and count syllables :)
Is there another way to do it? Ha, ha, ha.
😄
I love this.
In fact, it's what inspired my own. Although I'm not sure of the second line though. The shadow part. (I know the stone can't feel warmth)
💕
Thank you! I love yours.
The second line of mine: immune to the metaphoric shadows and warmth of life. I thought of that as I watched physical shadow and warm sun fall upon the statue.
Wow
That's interesting...
I didn't connect warmth and shadow at first
That's a good one
❤
The statue reflects almost the impassibility of the Zen disciple, a model to follow!
A relic forgot
Worshiped by wind and rain - smooth
Immortal in stone
The picture of this week to do the Haiku has been complicated but you have made it exceptional. You have mixed time (past and present) with natural and religious elements, but not with the hardness of the stone but with its immortality, with the symbolism of its eternity. I loved it. Congratulations @calluna
Your haiku is strong and powerful. You express so much with so little words
I love this
❤
Nice haiku! The reader can feel both immortality and impermanence, and the wabi sabi feeling for worn and old things
I guess I am terribly late.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my "haiku thoughts" since I wrote them already :D They are a bit too biblical :D
A false idol born
in the desert haze awaits
human hope to feed.
That's the spirit, deadline or not! 🤠 Biblical but a very original take Val!
Thanks ;)
MIZU NO OTO convoca
a conquistar el haiku,
y aunque no lo creas tù
la mente se me desboca
ese intento me provoca
impotencia, llanto, pena;
perdí en esa faena
con el pequeño gigante,
pues de ahora en adelante
su belleza es mi condena.
Wow! Thank you for this poem! The Bananafish is flattered! :D
Very accurate and careful interpretation. Thanks for the comment!
If you had to choose one of the three, who would she/he be?
I am a little late so I will just post this here.
Under empty sky
a lonely strong statue waits
guarding a temple
Very evocative, but still simple. A great haiku, imho!

Me gustó mucho.
Muchas gracias estimada amiga @adncabrera. Saludos
Wow
Your words blends perfectly with the picture
I like the idea of strength here. The bull is certainly looking brave
💕
Thank you very much dear friend.

The wind can't take this thing with it. A firm haikú for a firm statue. Good one.
