Being Back In Indiana

in #indiana6 years ago

This blog will be a little bit of a rant but a lot of you know that I recently had a big life change. I sold the property that I used to do the "pool meetings" in. If you don't know what I'm talking about you weren't missing much...they weren't that cool but a few people remembered me from them.

So now I'm back here in Indiana sort of bouncing around like a ping pong ball. There were a couple of reasons for the change. For one I think we are in for a pull back in real estate because of rising interest rates and people are leveraged out so far that a few things could cause the house of cards to fall. We hit a bottom in real estate in December 2011 and even though the Tucson market was only appreciating 4-5% / year it has still ran pretty far for what that economy can support in my opinion. The wild card is more baby boomers potentially moving to Tucson to retire. I'm planning on doing another post about reflecting on Tucson as a city and talking about the good and the bad aspects of it. This post is more going to be about Indiana and the things I forgot about it.

So Many People Have Blue Eyes Here

It sounds like a dumb thing but I didn't realize before that so many people here have blue eyes. In some of these places I feel like it is 80% of the people. That is just a guess but it seems like a lot of people. In Tucson it seemed way less than 10% of people would have blue eyes. Again another guess.

And no that woman doesn't live in Indiana. After being here for a couple of weeks I have seen one attractive woman and I had to bust a mission and drive 45 minutes to meet her. Slim pickings I guess we could say. I had a conversation with my friend from California and we broke it down and figured that the concentration of the hottest women live in California, Arizona, Florida, and then select other metro areas such as Dallas / Ft. Worth. Living in Tucson 6 miles from U of Arizona sort of spoiled me to say the least.

A Lot Of People Smoke Cigarettes Here

People in Arizona who smoked seemed to all gravitate to Vaporizers. Like everyone is hitting the THC Vap Pens and getting fucked up off their asses out there. Ok, maybe not everyone but people have switched to Vaping for the most part.

It's Going To Be Hard For Me To Play Basketball Here

For a state that has a storied basketball history it will be hard to be able to play any basketball here just because of the towns I'm in. Yesterday I went in to play basketball hopefully at the YMCA and a league was starting up so I was hoping to get on a team but out of 8 teams I didn't get picked up. Most of the teams ran with 5 guys for two 20 minute halves. It was pretty discouraging considering there were only about 2 or 3 of the guys who were as good as me. That is just me being honest.

They want to play with their friends and lose every game or whatever. Unfortunately that means I'm probably not going to be able to play and driving over an hour to Indianapolis to try to get some pickup games in would be frustrating as well.

In Tucson I could pretty much get games in everyday of the week if I wanted to. You just had to know where to go on that day.

What Am I Doing Here?

All my family lives here so I'm visiting them but that can prove to be frustrating over a longer duration. My parents just talk shit about everything. There are just a lot of things that are frustrating with that. They act like everything is about to blow up in the next 5 minutes if some non important task isn't completed right away.

Overall I was just trying to use this area as a launch pad for traveling. I'm going to San Francisco in November to be a mentor again for the EOS Global Hackathon! That is going to be awesome just like Sydney!!!! Then in December I'm probably going to roll out and drive down to Florida and visit one of my friends down there. From there I will fly to Puerto Rico to determine if I felt like I could live there and take up residency there for the tax benefits.

Conclusion

I don't think I can really live in Indiana. It is annoying here to me. Even if I was in Indianapolis it would still be 40 degrees and raining a lot.

There was a time when I was going to live in a different city each month. I still may do that but it sort of depends on the Puerto Rico situation. I don't know if I would feel at home in PR. Sydney on the other hand...... I could live there for sure.

Sort:

Damn - no more pool, limited court action and dearth of babes. tough times - Hang in there BP!

On the flip side, you've given yourself the means to travel around a bit, you're not tied down by anything, and can take on some new experiences/challenges.

And I reckon your plan of going deeper into crypto makes sense - stacking now at these prices should pay off handsomely in a year or two!

I guess life is all about timing so I timed the housing market fairly well and now if I time this next boom in crypto properly I could set myself up for a life of absolute freedom!

That's the dream ! When u succeed and can travel world, pop over to Europe and I'll show u around London and/or Warsaw. ;)

@brianphobos I like you, feel very much the same way about the housing market. I may be selling within the Month just to move on and cash out. There is no Way I would Buy my House Now for what someone is going to have to pay for it and then spend money to renovate.......

I started feeling very uneasy that I wasn't going to cash out soon enough and even if I could have sold it 4 months earlier I would have been better off ultimately. For awhile it was feeling like a piggy bank I couldn't crack.

So many personal issues - you need to get a vape and chill out more!

The last two times I vaped with the THC pens I went hog wild and was wallowing around like a crack baby and talking nonsense!

Perfect - that is the time to do comments on Steemit!

Man, guess what just came up at the 8 min 45 second mark!

Awesome man! I was lucky enough to go down there twice but I plan on going down there more in the future. It is certainly an unbelievable spot!

It sounds like you've got a lot of travelling on your plate. It seems like you enjoy that though, so have fun! I think you probably picked a good time to sell. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of downward pressure on house prices soon.

When it turns south it can happen fast and causes a lot of panic as well so I'm glad I am out of real estate for the time being. I will only reenter the market when things get bad again and foreclosures are through the roof.

I’m not too far away man.

In Cincinnati myself. I prefer this area over Indiana myself. It seems like there is more to do.

I would equate it to if I was in Indianapolis. Things would certainly be different if I was in Indy compared to here but it comes down to a cost situation and I have this fiber Internet connection which kicks ass more than any other connection I have ever seen. Plus we still have my grandpa's house. He passed away almost 5 years ago but we still have this property so I'm kind of camping out here with low utilities and using it as a launch pad to travel and focus on my content and investing.

My parents still hate it I think. In a weird way I think my mom is jealous that my whole plan with the property in Arizona worked out the way I planned and I somehow came out with a fat stack of benji's without having a job. They sold a rental property that had 12 acres, a pond, and a barn and was a rolling wooded property and it sold for less and somehow she couldn't come to grips with that. Even thought it is obvious that location has such a big part to do with it. It is strange man but at the end of the day I think my parents are going to get more pissed at me and talk shit like I'm not doing anything.

I’d be proud man.

You’re doing the right things for you. That’s what matters.

I have had my first child this year so my plan has slightly altered but having a few stacks and the opportunity to be mobile is a dream.

I have never chased money, only freedom.

I have been focused on owning my own time but the money will be important for absolute freedom as well.

Don't live in a place where it rains a lot because it is depressing. Live in a place where it is sunny and your money can stretch @brianphobos

Well it is sunny here today and the cost of stuff isn't that much. But things will change. Arizona isn't too bad for lower cost and being sunny. We just need to all get insanely Bitty Rich in this next crypto boom so we can live a life of absolute freedom anywhere in the world!

You better have gotten your tire fixed Brian

They were so annoying about that. I think the next day after we met up I went to Walmart and got the two tires fixed. But I have had a tough time being back over there much because they act like I'm going to break everything or I'm not doing what I'm supposed to.

Have you had any luck kind of taking some time to plan out what your next moves are?

Hey buddy hope you're settling into Indiana okay. I can imagine it's a bit of a change going from AZ to IN. When you talked about the hot girls I would say that seems about right the warmer states seem to have the pretty girls adn they seem to flock to Arizona.

I finally signed up for whale shares. I had to wait a while and finally got another email to essentially plead my case and beg to be let on, it said something about witnesses approving you. If you got any pull get me in there if you can.

I've been dabbling with smoke. It seems like a cool platform and a lot of great people but shit there's only so much I can post about weed. While I enjoy partaking, I normally wait until the evenings I like to have a productive day and being in an illegal state I can't grow so there's not a whole lot of content i can create over there. I'm just gonna start posting my normal type stuff over there and people can love it or hate it.

Not too much new with me, still trying to settle in to my new routine. Hit up ecom chicago last weekend which was pretty cool. Wound up meeting up with a youtube subscriber of mine yesterday for coffee, he's a web designer so I think we may trade skills I'm gonna help him get a youtube channell up and running and he's gonna do some web design for me.

Outside of that kinda same old same old for me .

Hopefully you get to play some ball here soon and looking for yourward to your posts about the upcomming hackathon

I haven't even posted on Smoke yet. The only thing I could really post on there is some of my experiences and sort of funny stories and then my thoughts on Cannibis legalization and investment thoughts on the matter. When that is enough for about 10 posts or so but I wouldn't be able to post over there all the time. Scorum would be the same. Talking about basketball....etc. I might do that some and then double post that stuff here and on WhaleShares as well.

I would still like to hit up one of the Michigan beaches this year. I know it will be cold but even if we got a day that was 65 degrees I would still like to go and all that. I'm actually kind of blown away that we met up a couple of weeks ago. Time is starting to fly on me which worries me.

Hey buddy, I'm definiately down to meetup again and hitup the beaches. I know what you mean about time flying. After leaving my business I was like okay I'm gonna take a week or two to do nothing andjust kinda decompress maybe spend some time in the city walking around, taking some pictures, just doing fun stuff.

Well I'm a bit of a workaholic and I'm also somewhat concerned with getting some money comming in so I hadn't really done that, I've been busy working, but not necessarily very efficiently. I feel like I've kinda pissed away the past few weeks. The phrase don't confuse movement with action comes to mind. I'm moving a lot but not really getting much done or atthe very least not doing the things I need to be doing.

I got somewhat inspired after eCom Chicago so as soon as I finoish this reply I'm gonna stop pissing aroundon Steemit andReddit and Smoke here and get some "real" work done. Second week of November I'm heading out of town for a wedding and then to Aruba for a week but aside from that I'm pretty open schedule wise.

As for smoke. I started posting some stuff on there, weed related stuff but like you said even though I do smoke I don't really have a ton to talk about weed related. I'm just gonna cross post my normal stuff over there and post relevant weed stuff whenI can. I'm actually excited about getting on whale shares. I just submitted my about me and bts address to verify hopefully I get let on here soon, been waiting for a while.

I know how you feel. I hit it decently hard with the content creation but when I have a full day of it the amount I can make in a day off this right now doesn't equate to a full days earnings by any means at least not now. That is always tough to come to grips with because we might say, well if I can make $100, $200, $300 / day then it is worth it....etc.

Plus I'm losing subs on my YouTube channel where I talk about crypto. So many people got their ass beat in crypto that they want to tune it out so viewership is low.

It will be a major grind to keep going and trying to build a bigger and bigger name for myself. The one thing that it has help on is consulting work for EOS related tokens that companies want created so I'm getting some work from that. Then when I'm in San Francisco for this next hackathon I will likely look like a person who must know something. :-)

Hopefully we could plan something for next week to go to lake Michigan.

Yeah I know what you mean about crypto content, products and business when markets are down. I was doign a lot of crypto tee shirts a while back and it was amazing, my sales activity mirroed the markets. When prices were up sales were up, when prices tanked sells went away completely.

I was actually talking to a guy yesterday who wanted to start a business inthe crypto space. I told him right now he will have absolutely no success with the direction he's trying to go. I said I can't tell you not to do it because if thigns pick back up and you've already got something ready to go while others are scrambling to hop on the fad train you'll do very well, but I said right now the general public doesn't care and even a lot of people who in the past were into crypto, many of them have tuned out.

I'd love to see you start another Youtube Channel that's about non crypto stuff. You're a fascinating dude, talking to you at the beach that day was an awesome experience hearing about you leaving Indiana to move out to AZ and a lot of the stuff you did out there. You're entrepreneurial experiences. I think you have a lot of info to share on a lot of subjects and I think you could attract a whole new audience outside of just crypto, heck could even help grow crypto adoption as one channel brings in the mainstream people and you can then kinda slowly start to introduce them to it.

Just something to think about, I know it takes an incredibly long time to get montized so it would be more of a longterm plan.

Well initially I would have liked the channel to be "making money online" Which would heavily involve crypto and then lifestyle related stuff about me and the traveling. So it would be an all in one channel kind of thing. Because a lot of these guys who were doing workout related stuff turned a lot of it into business and lifestyle as well.

I would love to be able to do that but I kind of feel like I would need other people around me filming and being part of my team....etc and I feel like my best bet would be to hunker down and live like I'm broke and keep building positions in crypto and then when the next surge hits I can hit it in a better stride and look like a bigger authority.

I hate to get triggered by others content but it really did seem that the people who knew the least about crypto were getting the biggest followings in the last boom. I still just shake my head at the followings DataDash ended up with giving his nonsense charting bullshit. People are really into the fake technical analysis which is annoying to me.

It is kind of like we said before....... there is always this worry that we will seem like a total fraud sell out guy if we are selling courses or charging for things but to tell you the truth it is 100 times more valuable then a lot of the people who just jump in there and pretend to be experts and just make stuff up like Tanner J Fox.

Hmm.. but Sydney is in the opposite season from north America.

Yeah but I was even swimming during their winter so it seemed fine to me! I'm sure right now things are warming up and the beaches are heating up!

They are having some travel ads in Singapore recently and telling us Australia is not just about beaches though.
