Training was lit, the game was electric, my feet were sore and my stomach was rumbling. I had just delivered a man of the match performance on the pitch and was heralded by my peers, with accolades flying in from all angles including the elders who came to grace their sights with my elegance on the pitch.
But then the watch was over and darkness was beginning to take its place in the committee of times. I strolled into the house kingly and went straight to the kitchen to fend for my rumbling stomach. Mom had returned from the market and was sitting by the fireplace with mortar between her legs and a charcoal covered pot on the fire.
That was my hint that food was still on its way and I understood the situation, but my stomach had a brain of its own and all the accolades and adulation of my numerous fans would not satisfy my hunger. My great night was teetering into a hunger stricken one. So I left the backyard, strolling confidently into the kitchen as a predator would enter his favorite part of the bush.
It seemed there was an immediate quietness outside and I felt like I was being monitored by the powers that roamed the surrounding areas. So I paused and surveyed the area again and noticed that there was no one approaching, so I tiptoed stealthily towards the freshly boiled pot of meat that was still warm and the aroma was inviting, carefully lifted the cover and slowly sent my hands and fingers on an adventure.
Obviously it was the meat that was to be used for the meal being prepared outside. But then, there was no harm in being the first to take a lead on the meaty journey. So I slowly romanced the remnants of the pot to find one that was rich in flesh. It was a matter of seconds before the meat ended up in my mouth and I carefully returned the pot cover.
Just then, mom called out to me. Unable to answer with the meat still in my mouth, I rushed out of the kitchen, threw the meat into my pocket, and then teased my sister just as she was about to enter the kitchen, tapping her on the shoulder. Then I rushed out to answer mom who then asked me to go bring the pot of meat.
As I came out with the pot, mom noticed that there was a space among the meats in the pot that showed that a meat has been extracted from it. I immediately left the scene of the crime to avoid questioning about the crime. Just then, my sister came out of the kitchen to meet mom, that was when the oil from the meat was noticed on her cloth.
I was already in the sitting room when the pandemonium started, first verbally, and after a lot of denials and sobs, it turned physical and my sister was disciplined for committing two crimes, stealing the meat and then lying about it.
While this was going on, I was busy munching on my precious meat in the verandah, patiently waiting for when the meal would be ready. Though I felt sorry for my sister for being punished for an offense she ever committed, there was no way I was going to take that punishment myself. So I just saw it as she being unfortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Till today, it's still a mystery to her about how she got punished for something she knew nothing about, so please no one should show this to her. Thank you!

That was naughty of you. Hope as much as you do that your sister never discovers the truth (and doesn’t read this story).
It’s really hard to write stories about ourselves that don’t show us in the best light. However, these stories often make for interesting publications, which is certainly the case with your story.
Vividly descriptive writing with a perfect tone that suits the subject matter. Well done!
Please remember to engage with other writers.
I really hope she doesn't see it too. Lol.
And yes, I've engaged other authors. Thank you!
You mentioned hoping your sister never sees it. Let's pray hard that your mom never sees it 🤣

I know my mom can never see it as she's not that technology inclined.
