The terribly hot week in Portugal is resulting in nearby fires. There haven't been many of them this year yet. At least comparing to previous years, but they always occur in summer. In the fall, when you drive through the countryside, you get to see black burned patches and skeletons of trees sticking out from ashes. Quite a depressing view...
I look at the window now, and I see heavy, grey smoke in the sky...
Summer sucks.
Sucks big time!
What does it have to do with #Fungifriday and today's post?
Abso-fucking-lutely nothing.
But I look at the photos of a humid, cool forest, and it almost seems unreal. It was last year in Poland that I took those photos. As most of the mushrooms I post anyway. Multiple trips to the woods to cool and reset the brain in silence always fill my camera memory card. It is nice to go back to them, especially when outside is hell.
The light peaking through the trees at this time of the year is nice. Much softer and lower angle gives these nice, long shadows too.

And of course Lichens. There is never enough of lichens! And they are absolutely everywhere :)
I absolutely love how they take over the moist, rotten wood, creating these tiny little worlds of their own.

Oh no, the familiar summer forest fires in Portugal (and Spain) 😟
Next week we head back, so I have to be prepared to see them... (although it is terribly hot here too, and no, no mushrooms either 😂 I tried to search for some in the garden for FungiFriday this morning but nada) Cool you have these photos from Poland, they can bring some refreshment 😇

I also tend to look at photographs when everything sucks around me, when I feel helpless and incapable, etc. (you know, self-sabotage). I do read something motivational as well. Truly your photos are beautiful and refresh and restart the brain.

I saw some more smoke on Monday again... it will stop only with the cooler weather and some autumn rains. Until then, they will happen all over the country. It's pretty sad really.

No, these were shot last fall in Poland. No way I will get any mushrooms now in the Portuguese heat.
Summer is indeed very difficult to hunt mushrooms, but in the forest you visit there are still some species of them that still look fresh, my eyes are drawn to one of the moss whose color is very striking, he looks cool 😄😄
