OK, look... I can't be here like I was before, but it seems I can't really leave either. I need to reclaim some of my time, and find a way to be WAY more efficient.
(Random photos follow throughout this post - because that's what I do.)
Cannon Beach, Oregon
So what the heck am I going to do? I have a plan:
- I will be posting less in order to save time.
- Stopped my power down
- Revoted my witnesses pretty much as before
Ross Bay, Victoria, BC
- More contest posts, fewer rants
- Shorter posts. Many of you post single images... why am I posting up to eight or ten???
- Fewer comments - they just take me too long
- Autovoting
- Delegating - for fun and profit. I do need to earn something here.
Tofino, Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Now about the autovoting - first of all I can't vote at all for a couple of days. My vote is worth nothing anyway and now it will be reduced to 25% maximum. On the other hand, I will be voting for more people and lots of you guys I follow post multiple times per day. I will have to phase this in slowly and try to have my votes live within the 20% daily voting power allotment.
My delegation is going to go to the ocd-bot for white-listed Steemians. I need to earn something here, otherwise what's the point?
This is way more info than most anyone will care about, but my point is I don't do these things lightly. I have to work this out, and it's going to take a few days to set everything up.
I turned 64 years old today. It's time to figure things out and Steemit cannot be the center of my life. I figure I might want to go outside now and then, you know?
And yes... I'll still be doing #mountainmonday and #eaglefriday. Ok friends? I know some of you wanted me to stay. This is the best plan I've come up with.
Happy New Year, and all the best for 2019!
Thank you @pixresteemer!
Thanks @shasta ;) Happy New Year!
Finding a way to improve efficiency.is also one of my goals here.for 2019. Good luck! And Happy New Year! ☺

Thank you! All the best for 2019!
Happy New Year! Lets do this! Its going to be a great one for all of us!
Happy New Year, Melinda :)
Really happy to hear that you will still be around.
I'll give it another shot. I have to reclaim several hours each day!
Happy New Year! Glad you are staying! Super random pics!
Thanks very much! Happy New Year :)
Happy New Year Keith!
Sounds like a good plan!
Thanks Dave. If you want me to do that other thing, I will @daveks. Happy New Year!
Shorter comments, and fewer pictures will certainly save some time, I know. It takes a long to to decide on the picture, then to start doing the words, then well one picture doesn't fit so you want to find a different picture. I have tried to start limiting myself to three or less pictures, I almost always tried to keep it 5 or less just because of page load times for the images. but then steemit sort of fixed that by resizing the images on the fly to save a little.
Auto votes I guess work, I mean some days I have a hard time finding 20 post to vote on, and when I find one, I want to leave a comment, so a double win there for you.
I think I have only managed to post one post a day for seven days in a row twice. A couple of times I tried real hard to do that, but it just did not work for me. I can not believe there are people that can put out 4 post a day 7 days a week, they must be posting machines is all I can figure.
I go days sometimes without doing a post, I still try to get my votes out everyday, but if I have things to do, they wait, plus I can vote on my phone, so It doesn't matter where I am as long as I have a signal.
Happy New Year, and remember your life comes before steemit life. You should not feel bad about missing a day or two or heck even a week while away enjoying an outing, that is life.
I do take a long time choosing pictures for a post - not this post... those were some old photos I had sitting on my desktop. But in general I do take lots of time, and if I write something to go along with the photo, that can take a long time. I'm not quick at any of this, but I'm going to have to learn to be. Thanks a lot for your comment, and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Keith!
Happy New Year, Erika! See... I listen to you. Sometimes. ;)
Thank you Keith.
Happy 64th Birthday my dear friend. I think it is good that you are honest about your Steemit journey @keithboone and I’m sure we can all identify with your feelings. Time is a big factor for me too but I make it difficult for myself by taking too many images when trying to gather enough for a post and then forget how long it takes to edit, and prepare something of interest to go with the blog.
I really do enjoy random days away from the computer as I come back more energised after a break. And because the investment of time I put into Steemit is done with long term vision, I should probably take more time off than I do especially if I’m not having a healthy balance. That is something I need to work on for myself.
Be free to make choices that are right for you and your family. Your friends here will love to see your exceptional photography whenever the timing is right for you. You’ve built up a loyal following and your talent is appreciated by many.
I hope you had a wonderful day and indulged in something really decadent to celebrate your 64th birthday. 🎂
I want to thank you for all your support and encouragement, Trudee. You help to keep me somewhat level headed-ish... Yes, I do need to get away from the computer and look - I'm still not doing it. I'm supposed to be a photographer more than a blogger. Anyway, it's a brand new year, let's see where it takes us. Many people I speak to are expecting 2019 to be a good year! Let's hope so! Happy New Year my good friend!
Well my friend, if I have been able to give you any encouragement along the way then I am happy indeed. You have always been tremendously supportive of my work and it really does mean a lot to me.
Yes, many are expecting good results for 2019 and we couldn't be in a better place to receive great support for our art and photography than here. Enjoyment is the key ingredient and if that means taking well deserved and healthy breaks then that is what we must do. Every blog is one more blog closer to our goals. But there is no rule to say how often we invest with our time and talents. It's entirely an individual thing and we shouldn't put pressure on ourselves in reaching our goals.
I said in an earlier comment that I am focusing more on long term goals which is strange when I consider my age........(which exceeds your 64 years, young pup) but creativity keeps us young at heart. Photography is your main passion and for me I love art and enjoy being able to combine it with my photography.
May 2019 be one of your best years yet Keith. The year won't take care of itself......we must do our part by doing what is necessary to maintain or improve our health and to find the right balance that works for us as individuals.
Thank you! It's a little rough right now. Cathy is very sick and I've been trying hard to hold it together here.
Oh, I'm very sorry to hear that Keith. I hope Cathy will get better soon. Look after yourself too and rest when you can.
Happy New Year.
Best regards.Thank you for voting @Yehey as one of your Witness.
Told you I'd vote for you first if I came back! ;)
Witnessing is not fun at all :) unless you're in Top20.
Cheers to you and looking forward for a better Y2019.
Yippee! Happy to hear you are staying, Keith. Happy Birthday 🎂
Thank you! Happy New Year :)
I know what you mean ! I haven't posted in 23 days. Maybe I shouldn't wait that long...LOL !!! ...but it has been the holiday season and there were many fun things to do and I decided I didn't want to miss a thing. I am just getting back into comments and voting. I probably should have snitched a little time for that daily, but, I feel good about the time I took back to enjoy my life.
Although I am still fairly new (started early Sept 2018), I have spent many hours learning and posting and the such and I have enjoyed it greatly. I do think I spent too much time though, so I will also be pondering a better balance. There are so many things to be enjoyed. I will be including steemit, but I cannot let it dominate. :)
Happy New Year !
Oh ! ... .and Happy Birthday !
It does take a lot of time, right? If you want to post even more often than every 23 days, that's going to require an even greater amount of time! :) Thanks very much, and Happy New Year!
I didn't really intend to miss 23 days, it just sort of happened. ... and yes, you can lose hours posting and reading and commenting and...... all of that. I like it, but I still work a 40 hour week, so I don't have all day where I can spend hours and then still have plenty of time for everything else.
Howdy sir Keith! I'm so glad you're going to stay! We're the same age and I know we're thinking the same way sometimes..like we need to bring in some retirement money! And we're not sure if this is the way. Not like we have years to experiment. I like your choices though, very logical. I don't know how people post 3 or 4 times a day.
Happy New Year
you old cowboy, my friend! Thanks for understanding. I'm really hoping the autovoter will save me a bunch of time. So far I've set up 48 of the 50 "streams" they allow you, and I will be enabling them over the next day or so and trying to keep my voting power within the 80% to 100% range. That means up to 50 accounts I follow on a regular basis will now be receiving 25% of my zero-value vote instead of 100% of zero! Pretty funny, but I do stress over this stuff. On the positive side, that's more people than I've been able to support so far, and that tiny 25% will go to ALL of their posts instead of just a few random ones I've been able to get to in the past.
The type of post you make, which I really enjoy, must take a lot of time to put together. The research, the writing and finding the photos... I've always been impressed with the effort you put into it. Let's hope things pick up in 2019 and we are all successful and happy and Incredibly wealthy! ;)
Yes sir keithboone! I agree and hope for a big turn around in the price of steem in the year 2019. If it turns around then you can justify being on here so much.
I haven't gotten on the autovoters yet but will sometime, it's the only way to go if you want to have a life that's for sure, it's just too much to try and keep track of dozens of accounts. Thanks for the kind words, I do spend a ridiculous amount of time on these and it's not worth it but could be if the price goes up.
First off Happy Birthday and great shots
And balancing time n steemit is always a challenge and I can understand you revaluating how you will spend the time you have
Easy to say but harder to do... I've been here for hours today! Thanks very much!
yes indeed it is so true the site and friends on here make it kind of addictive
