Today's nature trip, or should we call it hiking, was just half-planned. We wanted to go for a walk somewhere, after saying goodbye to our son at the bus station (it was a short stay for this student with his parents because he has classes tomorrow morning, but he happily took food with him for two or three days). I called my friend to see if she was in the mood for a walk and if she had any ideas about where to go, but since she didn't pick up the phone, we planned our route by ourselves at that moment. We opened the map on our phone and chose a starting point.
![20250209_163123.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/mipiano/Ep1VspWJjikLCuMYnSaT9nhC68MVrrEgL9xSJ4BZFkj5ueSZCKiSUqqUiqU4ehiNVWQ.jpg)
We had hiked here before with our friend, but our starting point was always closer to the village. Now we went by car to one restaurant ( on the local road CV-837, which connects the towns of Petrer and Castalla) actually to its parking lot. From there we went down a small path and found ourselves in a world surrounded by rocks and high cliffs, listening to the babbling of the water and the birds. Oh, and my water bottle, which kept making noise in my pocket as I walked.

I made some video footage also but it is too... dangerous to watch 😂 so in the end, I will not upload it lol. sorry You would need to take a motion sickness pill, because... well, first I am standing on the edge of a high cliff, and then my walking is quite wobbly. And yes, I slipped a little at one point on the rocks, so there was an extra jolt... and the sun was too strong so it didn't turn out very nice.

In this path we are hiking today we follow the course of the ravine that carries some water, coming from the spring of the Mina de la Puça. In some years, when there is a lot of rain during the spring, this is a perfect place for finding freshness and escape from the summer heat. Several natural pools are formed under the waterfalls and people like to come here to bathe in the cold, fresh water. Other years, in the lack of rain, this ravine is dry.

Right there, at the beginning of our hike, there was a sign on one tree. Take care of nature.

Taking care also means being gentle to flowers and the little details you find on your way.

The path is quite uneven. Proper hiking shoes would come in handy, but as we didn't plan... well, next time I will come more prepared and do a longer route. I am sorry that many photos (and the video too) face directly the sun, but then you see indeed how we hiked. No filters or corrections haha. I had sunglasses though that I was intermittently putting on and taking off (note to the reader - please, put on your sunglasses if the sun is too strong. 😎)

As this is a ravine, we see that the landscape was formed and moulded by the water. The erosion made these high rock walls, we are surrounded by them while walking our path. In some parts, there is more greenery, also reed. Narrow paths follow the wide ones, and sometimes we had to cross the riverbed on little bridges formed by stones or wood.

During our hike, we stumbled upon a few ruins of flour mills. Back in time, they used the water from the ravine.

In some parts, we walked on paths and stairs with wooden fences. I assume these were made where it would be impossible to cross.

How interesting are these formations on the high walls of the ravine... I found out that this hole has a name. It is known as the Magic Window.
![20250209_170146.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/768x0/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/mipiano/EqL6pLZvFeJkuwiBsVoQwEKwXovG7PVdxhZSSJvPnBkCjuxU8EAwpzGeVCvS2RPxifU.jpg)
Below this formation, there is a water spring, named Font de la Mina del Molí del Turco.

Here I am standing on the edge of a tall cliff... and under my feet, there is a waterfall. There are a few actually, but as they are hidden in vegetation I got no good photos of those. I hope there will be water this summer in these natural pools, and even if they are quite shallow (no real swimming) I can maybe soak my feet in the cold water. Time will tell.

It was a real hike and it seemed so easy to get there. You don't seem to have met anyone on the trail.... I love the relief and climate, except for the summer heat which I think is excessive.
I saw in the previous post about the power outage, in the photos, that the town is quite small.
I think the ideal town, in terms of size, is one where you can see its edges... and get to them quickly.
Nobody was there - that's true. And being a Sunday afternoon - that was strange we were the only ones who hiked there at that moment. But up, where the restaurant was, there were more people when we were leaving, they came probably for dinner 😅
I prefer it not to be crowded but when I don't meet anyone it gets a bit weird and I'm afraid we are the only ones left on earth, haha....
😂

Thank you 😇😍
The place is very beautiful and so are your photos without corrections and filters. For an exploratory hike without the right shoes it was quite long. I love the mountains and their formations, those ruins too and the sound of water and birds must be really enchanting. Everything is magical there.
Otro día haces el vídeo jaja
The magic window is the culprit that it is a magical place haha :D
I also want to go there at a different part of the day. When the sun sets, it goes behind the mountain and the dark comes quickly so it would not be good staying there in the dark - sin cobertura porque allí no hay nada de nada, ni para hacer una llamada.
Jajaja... 🤣
You are a magnificent pianist, and your photography skills are not to be left out either!
Thank you @deeanndmathews!
The same goes for you 🤗
Hi. I loved your walk, you tell it in such detail and post such great photos that it feels like we are there. Look what the water has done to those rocks. You can tell they are old. Boots are a must, as well as glasses as the sun can damage your feet. Thanks for sharing, remember to always bring your water and snack so you don't feel bad again.
Muchas gracias
Hey, you remember that little accident when I didn't feel well? Haha, yes - this time I had water in my pocket and a banana in my backpack :))
You already killed me in this place, I had to resurface and then I continued the walk, which is really beautiful, I love exploring. What's in that magic door, I want the waterfalls.... that's what I was thinking while looking at the pictures. Next time with the right shoes you'll go better and further!!! I love it so much!

🤗
The waterfalls are not exactly like Niagara Falls for example hahaha, but cool in their own way. And the natural pools they form... not a bad place to hike, though in the morning would be smarter to go, probably :D
Have a good week @avdesing :)
It's a very beautiful, natural place and there is peace, that's the most important thing. Have a great start of the week! Hugs!
Wow, such a cool trip, it feels so amazing doing something like that, hiking in nature and having those wonderful views. I loved the pictures, they really made me feel I was there too enjoying all of that, getting to explore it too. Thanks for sharing this experience 😊
Thank you @wendy23 😀 I enjoyed this hike among the tall rock walls, carved by water and wind and time, and I am glad you also felt like being there. I think the photos don't do justice, especially with the sun and us walking in that direction haha 😅 Gracias!
I like the place yes I suppose not easy walk in those rocky soil but it looks like wonderful exercise, good way to put the city outside and spend a little time in a more natural environment , I have to find some place like that near here to hiking too 😁
Thanks for the walk señorita mi piano de los senderos 😅
With proper shoes, it would be easier :D
Actually, I am emphasizing this to remind myself for the next time 😅
I still have to explore where it is nice to take walks, as we prefer nature over the concrete. At least you have some cool tourist places in your city and the malecón :)
Thank you señor Puma 😉
I probably need your hiking shoes to walk in the malecón 😆😆
¡Exijo ver ese video! 🤣
Mrs Mipiano, tell me why everything in Spain has to be so beautiful?
I will not deny that it looks a little dangerous to walk, but we all assume it when we get into hiking, I think when you come back more prepared you will be better prepared and even show us the video. How nice your Sunday, nature and a nice time with your son, I'm glad you are happy. A mega hug in the distance my friend! ❤️
Not everything in Spain is beautiful - it is just the choice of where to look haha 😜
Well, this hike was nice and you would be mareado from the walk haha.
My son went back to Valencia, he had lessons already today and some last exams, and tomorrow is the last exam from the history of music for this first semester.
Enjoy your hikes this week, if you will go again with your friend 🌲
What a place to go for a hike on a day with heavenly light, a magical sky!... Beautiful photos, impressive views!!!... Thanks for sharing @mipiano friend! ;)
📷 💯
Thank you @jlinaresp for enjoying this hike and the views with us 😇
Those rocky paths and cliff edges look thrilling. It must have been awesome hearing the water and birds while hiking.
Indeed, nature has wonderful sounds :)
How I wish I could visit that place. I find it beautiful and refreshing. This is a great escape away from using digital phones. In this way we can appreciate the nature. Plus hiking can give us a healthy life. It's double purpose; enjoying while walking.
Hiking in nature is indeed good for everything, it has many benefits for our health 🍀
Wow!!! Really beautiful places and tasteful photos. There would be no stopping me walking through such beautiful places.
Thank you 😊
the weather is very nice yesterday hope you had a good one
Sundays is either for resting or adventures, spending one of my sundays like this wont be a bad idea though 😏
My Sundays are work + rest or adventure hahah
