The boys is a series based on the comic written by Garth Ennis and co-created, designed, and illustrated by Darick Robertson that puts the weirdest spin on Superheroes. The movie series differs in some ways from the comic strip but the fundamentals remain the same. The series is set up in a universe where superheroes exist and are treated like celebrities. In this universe, Supes, as they are called have different classes based on their popularity and ability, and the top 7 known as "The Seven" sit at the peak of it.
The first season was released earlier this year and after 8 nail-biting episodes, I have to say, I'm looking forward to the next season. My favourite character of the lot is William Butcher(played by Karl Urban); a very angry and foul-mouthed guy with a British accent that holds a grudge against all supes because he presumes one of them raped and killed his wife.
At the end of the series, you'd be left with more questions than answers and will have to make assumptions to fill that void. William Butcher came in contact with a wimpy guy called Hughie Campbell(Jack Quaid) that was mourning his girlfriend at the time. Wiliam's appearance in Hughie's life led to an unexpected adventure that involved a team of five individuals; William, Hughie, Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and Yimiko.
I always looked forward to seeing William's character doing some damage. His misguided rage and utter disdain for Supes led the team into uncovering a conspiracy that ran all the way up to Vough industry. Vough industry was basically a company that outsources supes at a price. They were also protected by the Government and used blackmail and trickery to strongarm the Government of the United States.
The crown jewel in Vough Industry's operation was Homelander(played by Antony Starr). His origin was initially shrouded in mystery but as the season proceeds, the truth unfolds. Homelander is basically a narcissistic self-absorbed version of Superman that loves his reflection and dicing people into bits with his laser vision. He's the centerpiece of William's anger against Supes.
Despite starting off as what seems like a parody of the justice league, the movie morphed into a very sick and interesting plot that will leave you glued to your seat from start to end...of the season. I literally watched the whole series in one go and I'll be watching it again because damn, what a rollercoaster. Safe to say It's a series I thoroughly enjoyed and I recommend you watch without the kids around.

This is one of those that I might finish watching one day. I think I stopped on episode 5 and am not really interested in what happens next but who knows I might get bored enough again.
Either you're not just a movie/series person or you really have bad taste 😑. I lost track of time while watching this series a night and by the tine I finished the 8th episode, it was already past 4am. I'm tempted to spoil it but I'll let you watch it
Haha I have the best taste damn you. Nah I just get bored with it, it would have been a good mini series maybe, and I will probably finish the season but there is not enough story for me to really care. Once you get over the whole shock factor of things I think the story progresses very slow. Kinda like Doom Patrol did, although I do like that a bit more than this and it is miles ahead of any of these avenger things so that is a win I guess.
Not that the series is bad it is like most shows watch the first two episodes, skip through the others and watch the last and you won't be missing a thing.
Fair point. You'd miss out on William Butcher talking shit though. The foul language is probably my favourite part of the series 😂
Yes the cussing is refreshing :) Dude you have to watch the Witcher though. I think the pace is just right and there are cussing and boobs.

Undoubtedly one of the best superheroes series that any studio has done, all the satirical context that is used to make fun of the superheroes world it's just incredible
