I have watched ana and the king movie and I remember being glued to the screen for +2 hours. It was so damn good. I can honestly say that it's a classic, a master piece of cinema.
If you like drama movies you are going to absolutely love this one.
The story of the romance between the King of Siam (now Thailand) and the widowed British school teacher Anna Leonowens during the 1860s. Anna teaches the children and becomes romanced by the King. She convinces him that a man can be loved by just one woman.
Anna and the King, an expensive Hollywood production shot in Malaysia (due to Thai government’s enmity towards allegedly disrespectful portrayal of royal family) mixes real events with fiction, turning Mongkut into action hero and Anna into military strategist, while anachronistically crediting

Anna as a person most responsible for Wes ern-style reforms that created modern Thailand. Script by Steve Meerson and Peter Krikes is, however, torn between 19th Century concept of "White man’s burden" (embodied in Anna’s attempt to bring Western civilisation to backward Asian country) and late 20th Century ideas of political correctness (embodied in Mongkut’s struggle against Western imperialist powers). Lack of chemistry between otherwise great Chow Yun-fat in the role of Mongkut and Jodie Foster as Anna is also a huge problem for this film.
