Movie Review #55 - Gone in Sixty Seconds

in #aaa5 years ago

There are movies that beyond being entertaining are not very good, what I mean is that no matter how much a movie makes me have a good time does not mean that it is a great movie, surely you are thinking What the hell are you saying? Well, to be more specific, there are films that we watch on television to pass the time and not get bored, and there are films that we go to see in the cinema because of how wonderful they are, and that's what I mean, there are films that are good to see on television but that I personally would not see in the cinema because they are films with typical, predictable and uncreative stories. Well, today I want to share with you one of my favorite television movies, Gone in Sixty Seconds.

Gone in Sixty Seconds is one of those hundreds of super entertaining movies that Nicolas Cage made before his acting career fell into the repetitive hole he is in today, a super frenetic movie that entertains us thanks to the great rhythm that manages to build through scenes full of adrenaline, persecution and an element that I personally love, theft. The plot of this film focuses on how an older brother is forced to return to his hometown after having abandoned it many years ago to save his younger brother from a deal he is unable to keep. Basically in this film we see how Giovanni Ribisi - Kip Raines has made a deal with a recognized mobster to steal a lot of cars that is impossible to fulfill in the time he has been given, so he is forced to go to his brother Nicolas Cage - Randall 'Memphis' Raines for help and thus avoid any possible consequences that would bring not to comply with the agreement he signed with the mobster.

Basically the film is that, a frenetic and coordinated maneuver made by a group of thieves who meet after many years to fulfill the delivery that the younger brother of its former leader has made, a frenetic history of robberies fantastically orchestrated to give us a lot of exciting moments because unlike other robbery movies where the work is super coordinated and silent, here what we will see is a massive robbery carried out in a single night, yes, this group of thieves will carry out a coordinated attack to steal in a single night more than 50 high-end cars. However, as is natural in this type of movies this massive car theft will raise great commotion and will allow us to see dozens of intense and even funny scenes where we will see the interaction of the group of expert thieves with a group of young thieves who basically do not know what they got into.

The film always maintains a very high pace through scenes full of tension and even suspense where the thieves constantly have to use all kinds of maneuvers to evade a police officer who has them in his sights to capture them, an old officer who already knows this group of thieves and is determined to capture them. This is a film that beyond focusing on an uncreative story manages to capture excellently what it wants to achieve, ie, every scene of action, persecution and confrontation is done in a wonderful way, here we see no technical error that makes us change the look so as not to feel shame, in this film every visual and technical aspect is perfectly achieved to succeed in building the atmosphere of adrenaline and action that the story requires to be entertaining.

As I said at the beginning, this is not a fascinating movie, but a very entertaining movie, a movie that will never bore us and that will instead give us action scenes perfectly coordinated and built to take this typical story to a level higher than normal-mediumly entertaining movies. The work of the actors, as you can imagine, is nothing of the other world, they all have little participation and their performances flash through a story that doesn't require many dialogues or moments of drama, here what interests us and keeps us in front of the television are the action scenes very well executed. Finally, a great movie to watch on a Sunday while you are lying down eating a snack, one of the most entertaining TV movies there is without a doubt.
