Yankees' Bronx Bombers duo already out here in full force

In his very first regular season at-bat with the team, New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton knocked a two-run homer off Blue Jays starting pitcher J.A. Happ (watch here).

Then, with his Yankees up 5-1 in the ninth inning, the reigning NL MVP took reliever Tyler Clippard deep for his second homer of Opening Day (watch here).

In between all of this, reigning AL Rookie of the Year Aaron Judge reached base safely on all but two of his five plate appearances. When all was said and done, the two combined for five hits, four RBI and four runs scored while reaching base six times in the 6-1 Yankees win.

What we saw from the two had Yankees broadcaster John Sterling almost speaking in tongues.

Okay, that's Italian. And we have no real idea what was happening there. Giancarlo isn't Italian. He's part Irish, Puerto Rican and black. But hey, when he's dominating...who cares?

We digress.

The performance we saw from Stanton in his Yankees debut had the social media world abuzz. And it has us thinking that this version of the Bronx Bombers could very well rival the greats of the past. Think Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, but for more than a couple seasons.

Stanton, 28, is coming off a 2017 campaign that saw him hit 59 homers and drive in 132 runs. Judge, 25, hit 52 homers and drove in 114 runs as a rookie last season. This already makes them one of the most-potent power-hitting duos in MLB history.

With Stanton now batting behind Judge in the lineup, it's going to be all sorts of nightmare fuel for opposing teams. Toronto found that out first-hand on Opening Day.

And it already has the two as the talk of the water cooler around the sports world after just one game with one another. Stanton finds himself No. 1 on the SNIPdaily Top 100.

It's definitely going to be a fun summer and fall in the Big Apple with these two absolutely dominating the competition. Just how good they end up being won't be known for some time.

But if Opening Day is an indication, Cooperstown might want to make room for a shrine.

Here's the audio of John Sterling's HR call for Giancarlo Stanton -- in Italian. I don't even know what to say. https://t.co/GY9HQ8z5My
