Grace - "simple elegance or refinement of movement."
I consider Grace to be a clumsy, loud, weird girl on the outside who on the inside is incredibly smart, caring, and a great sport. Let me explain.
Grace started out as an only child. During the summer before freshman year her parents got divorced and she moved in with her mom. Months later, once freshman year began, everything started to become okay in her household again. Happy mom, happy environment, and that makes for a happy Grace. Skip a few months into freshman year.
At her school she is a part of a Cambridge program called AICE (it's for the smart, dedicated kids). That leaves little time for a social life. However, her best friend would still come over almost every day. Finally, we all came to realize this best friend of hers was having a super rough life at home and Grace stepped up, walked out into the living room and said, "Hey, let's adopt her." Doing so meant Grace was no longer an only child and after 15 years of being one would have to adjust to sharing everything from her room, to her food, to her personal time. That really is a brave thing to do, in my eyes.
Let's fast forward into sophomore year. AICE wasn't treating her very well so she dropped out and enrolled into honors classes instead in order to keep a good GPA. Now that she is 16, she can get her license or go out on dates... but instead of all of that she decided to get a tattoo and her nosed pierced in the same day. Rebellious in her eyes, of course, just like any good teenager. She went with a symbol of good luck from the Slovak and Celtic culture, the triskelion.
Finally onto her junior year - the hardest year of your high school career. She is fully adapted to living with her best friend, she still loves her tattoo, and she has gotten her GPA back up, but now is the most confusing part of her life. Who is she? What colleges is she going to apply for next year? Does she even like guys? She reinvented herself almost completely but inside she is still the same old Grace. That once innocent looking girl with long brown hair and big brown eyes now has short silver hair (which took several tries to finally get that color...) and has a love for Tommy Hilfiger, Levi, and Calvin Klein. Yet is still beautiful as ever.
I hope you guys enjoyed learning about my friend Grace. I feel as though everyone has a unique story and that someone should be there to pass it along. I plan on doing more of these and if you enjoyed it leave some feedback so I can tell each person's story a little better every time! Here are some random pictures I took of her being goofy or in an attempt to be artsy:
P.S. We found a super cute dog during our picture taking process and got super distracted... it was just so cute and friendly!
