Acapulco is as safe as fuck.

In February, I went to Acapulco, Mexico along with my boyfriend who was going to attend an event there. To be honest, we were a little bit nervous at the very beginning; especially after the unexpected subway experience in Mexico City from the airport to the bus station. So many people were fighting to get into the train carriage without proper order, and it was just 6:00 in the morning! If you know the Chinese Spring Festival transport, then I would say that was even worse. However, after 3-4 stops, there were more people getting out than people getting in. And people on the following stations were better dressed, from whose face you can tell they were more civilised. By then there was a lot of relief. Looking back that half an hour, it was really unexpected adventure for us. And then we took bus to Acapulco. During the first two days in Acapulco, we tried our best to be low-key; not dressed in colorful clothes; not spoke loudly. And my boyfriend never let go of my hand. He was nervous and worried. However, gradually, we felt safe and relaxed, especially after the supermarket experience. The cashier forgot to put the case of eggs in our shopping bag. And we went back to talk with them on the second day. They asked us to get one more inside the supermarket after they checked our receipt. From that, we both realised it was actually a poorer version of USA or say an old China at about 20 years ago. The people are the same simple and honest. The more we stayed there, the more we liked there. In general, it was an amazing trip. We decided to go back there next year.

We avoided the subway part on our return way which was obviously nicer and happier. To make a summary, I would say, spending some time to go round, talk with the local people to get familiar with the surroundings would help you enjoy the journey a lot.
