Mama Dreemit's Miracle, Not a Scratch on Her!

in #accident3 years ago

There's nothing quite like getting a call from your mom that starts "So, I think I'm okay, but I'm trapped in my car."

Then commences the "What? Huh? What do you mean trapped?"

Well my tire blew I think, and I am upside down in the ditch I think.

So out the door we flew, getting there just as the firetruck did...

Um yeah, she was upside down alright, after flipping over and over about three times!

Yesterday she had a flat and triple A put this spare on...was the guy blind?? He couldn't tell this donut might be a problem?

Grr. He's lucky she's literally fine.

The car hit the ditch so hard, it blew the battery up, there was acid everywhere. Not to mention everything from her back hatch, including an air compressor, was all over the car and somehow missed whacking her in the head.

And the airbags never deployed.

But here she is two hours later, totally fine!

I guess this goes to show, when it's not your time, it's simply not your time!

My word of the day is

Gratitude :0)

Sort:

Just stopped in to say hello, and of course happy to hear it's all good, because miracles.

I was just thinking about you, thanks for checking in! Just got back from NC, visiting friends, but mainly bringing our son down to his date for prom...of course I'll be posting that, tons of awesome photos to show off haha!

How are things? I'll bounce over to your page in case you posted :)

Haven't been posting. Been around for a few days, checking in. Going back out to the land with no name, where the things grow, and the birds chirp. And no good internet so I don't even bother with it, and just live.

That sounds like heaven honestly. If it wasn't for needing this phone for work I would happily fling it into the lake.

I recall our conversation, maybe a few months ago. Mentioned how getting away returns the mind to how things were when I was young, before the internet took over our daily lives. I think if I didn't take these breaks I wouldn't even be able to remember I had that conversation with you.

I remember, and agree. It's the reason we lease 25 acres in the national forest. Less than twenty minutes from home, we get to retreat from all things electronic, away from people, just woods waterfalls and ponds topped off with a campfire. I would lose it without that refresher. Maybe not quite WTP level lose it, but definitely go a little cray cray.

Watching the world from a device is heartbreaking enough.

WTP level lose it...

I'm just going to go ahead and point something out. I struggle to even think of it. Right now as it comes to mind, it's just hard. Heartbreaking.

Look up Lee MacMillan. Look deeply into her story. That's the worse case scenario of what happens to people in this kind of arena if they allow WTP level crazy inside. She was bullied, hard.

I don't want that here for these people. They deserve better. Everyone does.

Thank funk she is ok!

That thing with the airbags, I have always had that sneaky fear what if they don't work?

Which is slightly helped by the fact that once in a car with my mate The Duke and he got so mad at some guy cutting him up on the motorway that he hit his steering wheel really hard in frustration and the airbag blew up in his face. It still makes me chuckle even though it nearly caused a crash!

It was pretty freaky!

Yeah, of course the airbags deploy when you don't need them too, haha, you'd think they would have them up to snuff by now, sheesh

Or come up with a cool alternative like fast deploying and setting raspberry jelly. That might be nice :0)

Aaaaaahhhhhhh I'm internally screaming but her perfectly calm reading phone call aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh XD

Did she get checked out by hospital/doctor just in case? Sometimes when you're spinning like that things can get knocked around without you noticing at the time because adrenaline and whatnot, might be some delayed concussion/whiplash/unexpected soreness. Hopefully all continues being well though :)

Well, they say people who are drunk or sound asleep sustain far less injuries because they don't tense up, something to do with staying relaxed keeps from breaking bones...so my theory is she stayed completely calm and that's why she's fine :0)

I have been keeping an eye on her of course, but it's now nearing 24 hours and she still feels fine so ❤️❤️

I didn't see this when I browsed yesterday. Good lord! Thank heavens nothing too bad happened to Mama Dreemit. Definitely one tough mama!

She really is, she wasn't even sore the next day! She was just worried about car shopping, haha, and she got one she loves so everything worked out :)

How to be Mama Dreemit!? There are days when I couldn't even walk because I slept the wrong way!

That's great that she's OK!!!

Keep an eye out for signs of concussion. Even though it doesn't look like her head hit anything, I'm sure it bounced around quite a bit during the ordeal.

Thank you, ha, yes it's awesome!

I think her head is safe, but I told her she will probably be sore tomorrow from all the whipping around.

Word of the day is definitely gratitude.

That must have been a totally horrible experience. Glad she's OK. Still... be alert to "complications" for a week or so; the adrenaline flow of the moment can often make people think they are "OK," when really they are not.

I told her that, especially the next two days, not to be surprised if she's really sore. We stayed with her for several hours to at least make sure she wasn't just in shock, and that the most excessive part of the rush had faded.
