This full value dance was created by an Acehnese Ulama named Syekh Saman of the 16th century AD, At first this dance was just an ordinary folk game called Pok Ane,Seeing the great interest of the Acehnese people in this art then syeikh
is inserted with poems that contain Praise to Allah SWT. so Saman became the medium of propaganda at the time.!
Formerly Saman exercises performed under the bottom of Meunasah is a kind of surau building stage.n line with the condition of Aceh in the war (jihad), the sheikh adds poems that increase the spirit of fighting the people of Aceh. This dance continues to grow as needed.Until now this dance is more often in the show in religious celebrations and statehood.
This dance is widely known as genuine Gayo dance because this dance was born in Central Aceh,Many modern societies in Asian, Australian and European countries have adopted the harmony and speed of these dance hoops,However, the authenticity of this dance can never be imitated because the essence of this dance will only be found in Aceh.
