Mount Burni Telong is an active volcano located in Bener Meriah District, this mountain is one of the best climbing spots in Aceh.
It is not a secret, if the natural beauty of Aceh is so extraordinary. In the province nicknamed Serambi Mecca, there are many tourist attractions with different charms and characteristics. Alam Aceh also offers several attractions for travelers who are adventurous and like a challenge, one of which is Mount Burni Telong.
Mount Burni Telong is a favorite destination for nature lovers as well as tourists who like hiking. This tourist attraction has a charming natural beauty in the form of expanse of plantations, wilderness and Edelweis Flower charm known as one of the rare types of flowers. In addition, tourists will also be served with stunning views while at the top of this volcano.
Geographically, the location of Mount Burni Telong is located in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Province. The distance between the foot of the mountain from Simpang Tiga Redelong approximately approximately 16 kilometers that can be reached by traveling for 30 minutes. This point is located in Bandar Lampahan, Rembune Village which is a favorite start climbing on the mountain.
Not only the local climbers, Mount Burni Telong is also a target for climbers from outside the city such as Takengon, Lhokseumawe, Bireuen, Medan and also Banda Aceh. There are several routes that can be selected by tourists, the first route through Bandar Lampahan and Pante Raya route. But the climbers prefer to use the Bandar Lampahan route because the distance is much closer than the Pante Raya route.
In the village of Rembune, has been built climbing post Mount Burni Telong which is managed by the local community. For climbers are required to provide identity, and pay the retribution fee of Rp. 5,000 for each person. From this post the distance to the foot of the mountain is only about 3 kilometers only.
Enchantment of Mount Burni Telong
Mount Burni Telong is an active volcano still active today. The last time this mountain issued its lava, occurred on December 7, 1924 which caused damage to the environment in the natural surroundings and settlement residents who are at the foot of the mountain.
Having a height of more than 2,600 meters above sea level, Mount Burni Telong is included in the top 10 highest mountains located in Aceh Province. In Indonesian, the name of this mountain can be interpreted as a burning mountain. It is not strange, considering this mountain is an active volcano.
When the earthquake and tsunami that struck Aceh in 2004, Mount Burni Telong is feared to erupt again because many large rocks collapse so that local residents are forced to evacuate. But fortunately, the prediction is wrong so that the condition of Aceh that devastated when it is not compounded by the eruption of the mountain.
The traveler must be careful when climbing Mount Burni Telong, because there are paths with a field that is quite extreme and challenging. Not infrequently, the climbers will encounter an uphill field that requires high concentration and stamina qualified.
At the start of the climb, tourists will be pampered with views of coffee plantations, as well as vegetable plantations owned by residents. The adventure begins when the tourists have to go through a steep path through the plantation area. After that, the climb continues with a wild forest filled with pine trees.
For approximately 6 hours of climbing through the wilderness, tourists will arrive at the place where the Edelweis Flower thrives. At this point, the altitude reaches 2,000 meters above sea level so the cold starts to pierce the bone. This perennial flowering as if eliminating the fatigue of the climbers after passing through the forest of Mount Burni Telong.
Flowers Edelweis is a type of plant that only grows in the highlands. Climbers are forbidden to pick beautiful flowers inhabitants of Mount Burni Telong, because this flower is considered a rare plant.
After passing the beautiful flowers, tourists will arrive at the summit path. At this point there is a cave which is often used as a resting place and set up a tent for the climbers. From this cave, the peak of Mount Burni Telong is quite close only about 200 meters away.
When you reach the top of Mount Burni Telong, you will see a masterpiece of a truly enchanting oceanic cloud. The view from the top of the mountain, so beautiful from the green hills to the mountains that seem lined up. At the peak, tourists will find red and white flags that are the footsteps of previous climbers.
