I get what you mean, and do think there is scope for hiding tags while we wait for communities - whatever that looks like. New is pretty tough, I find myself going to the football section a lot but the writing is a bit mix n match there too.
So I head back to my own feed, and then feel bad for not expanding voting horizons :)
The same thing goes for all the steemmonsters reward card spam posts by the way (https://www.sportstalksocial.com/trending/spt), so many of them are being posted on sportstalk just to milk the rewards while it doesn't have anything to do with Sports. I upvoted 2 of them from my auto-vote list, I'd take my vote back but that would cause me to lose the curation rewards. There really need to be some kind of consensus around what's acceptable to use the tag on. The more I think about it, the less belief I have in tribes (and steemit in general) Closed communities which is an option for SMT's probably will bring some kind of solution.
