I walked to Alton Baker Park this morning. As part of the DBT Therapy I’m doing, I have some “homework” this week to practice several different mindfulness exercises. Normally on my walks I just keep moving (or occasionally stand in one place to play an AR game), but today I decided to practice some of these exercises in the park. For one I sat on a bench near one of the bird pond areas and attended to my breathing for a few minutes.
Later, after doing some Harry Potter: Wizards Unite wizarding challenges, I sat on a bench near a big open grass area and did some breathing while doing a contemplative exercise.
I’m not completely sure I’m doing the exercises right or getting the intended effect, but apparently not being judgmental about that is part of doing the exercises, and you’re supposed to just keep doing the practice.
