I'm back on the running train, it took longer for my ankle to feel normal then I thought that it would. However, I've been doing some cross-training (swimming, light biking while I was waiting) and I seemed to come back more fit than before. Although, this isn't saying much since I had only been running for like a week at that point.
I ran 4 miles, right after work, and it felt pretty good. This is by far the fastest that I've run in recent memory. Each mile I ran was a bit faster then the previous mile.
Mile | Split | Overall Time | Overall Pace |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 7:57 | 7:57 | 7:57 |
2 | 7:33 | 15:30 | 7:45 |
3 | 7:26 | 22:56 | 7:38 |
4 | 7:07 | 30:03 | 7:31 |
I did try to push the last mile a bit and I am pretty drained now that I'm sitting here writing this report. But It felt good to be moving faster than an 8-minute pace. Hopefully, the sub-7-minute pace isn't far off!
I plan on racing a 5K in the next month just to see what kind of shape I'm in and I can start designing workouts around my fitness. Although, I may time trial by myself since I'm not quite in shape. We will see if I can talk myself into racing other people at this point.
The ankle overall felt fine and didn't bother me it during the run which is a plus. I'm taking all the precautions that I can so that it doesn't pop back up. Once, I'm in good shape again I don't think I'll have to worry about it. The next few months are really important though.
