Visited and photographed the land where my husband’s grandmother’s house and store used to be in Arkansas. The house is gone, but the stone walls of his grandmother’s store are still standing. There are trees and bushes growing inside if it and hiding a large portion of the walls.

I love that photo! I found the home site where my great- great-grandparents had lived in southern Missouri in a log cabin. You could still see the outline of the cabin and the flagstone stoop where the front door had been. A pile of rocks was all that was left of the fireplace. I have one photo of them and some family stories, and being there helped bring the stories alive.
