It was a very active day of disc golf for my son and I. We played 18 baskets at the new course and found someone's disc in a blackberry hedge.
It was a nice day to be playing and the weather was warm and sunny. Lots of people were out in the park.
Later in the evening we met the owner of the disc at the other disc golf course in town and returned it to him. He seemed happy to get it back.
We played another nine baskets in the evening and I scored three over par for the course.
This afternoon I watched the sparrows being busy at the birdhouse. I'm assuming they are feeding young birds right now. It is cute to watch them poke their heads into the doorway and make a feeding motion.
The bird is kind of partway in and out of the doorway and leaning down into the nest in the photo. The birds have been very busy. The other birdhouse has some little chirping noises coming from it so I think there are young ones there too.
It is fun to watch them in the backyard. The blackberries you can see in the background are doing fine this year and I should be getting a nice crop in the fall.
I have to do a bit more trimming around the edges to make sure they don't get out of control and spread all over the place. Sometime this week I'll be doing some more gardening.

The house finch family moved into an empty swallow nest. When the babies hear any sound they think mom has come with food and they start up peeping lol. Very cute.
So lovely to be able to watch nature grow and expand but not the blackberries as much as they would like. They really are an amazing species of plant. They tend to overrun the place up here too. They are sweet and lovely though when they ripen.
Do you also get salmon berries, They are just about to come into season in these parts:)

Nice! I like salmon berries too and try to get out and find them around here when they ripen. There are a lot of native berries out there to harvest. I like having the convenience of growing berries in my yard as well.

You got in a good day of disc golfing! It's nice to have a fun activity to do when the weather is beautiful. I have only 1 blackberry bush, I whack it back pretty often, to keep it shaped up. When they start ripening (a long time from now unfortunately) I get about a nice sized bowl full a day to enjoy. Mine is the thornless variety, so easy picking.
In the fall I pretty much eat my fill every day and sometimes freeze or can some for later. I had not heard of the thornless variety that would be nice. I've got raspberries that are thornless too and they tend to ripen earlier and produce longer. I'm trying to get them to spread more and cut back some of the blackberries.
@lightsplasher I'd love to have some raspberries as well, yummmm. I had a strawberry patch in the back, but it seems to have not made it very well over the winter. There are few plants left this spring. 😭
Strawberries in the yard turn into all straw and no berry. The slugs and snails eat the berries at the slightest hint of pink and then they eat the plant. They seem to do better in raised boxes. I like strawberries but other berries are much easier to grow.
