On my iPhone X, it doesn't count anything. The App has the right to access the motion data.
Join us on discord for more details or further troubleshooting@newbijohn, @astrophoto.kevin try to deactivate/reactivate the permission, this should solve the issue temporarily. We will be releasing an updated version today to fix this issue.
