I'm a small get together with close friends kind of gal. My eldest was born on my birthday, and for many years I would say "She was the last birthday present I ever got" because the day became all about her. Now that she is grown and flown the coop, my day is back, all mine. No biggie, but I do like to have a pleasant time with some friends, and will give myself the most pleasant day I can.

It sounds like we are like minded in that way. For one of my milestone birthday, I did throw a big party. It was a blast. I rented out a room in a restaurant, invited 30 friends and hired a comedienne. It was wonderful. So I was surprised leading up to this one (which shall be revealed) that it wasn’t what I wanted. Dinner with a few friends, a day with my family, a night out at the movies with some other friends... those are the things I am doing this time around and it feels glorious.
