Bevor wir heute Nachmittag die Großeltern meines Mannes besucht haben, haben wir einen Ausflug auf den Wartenberg gemacht. Dort befindet sich mitten im Wald eine Art Wildpark - oder besser gesagt, das was davon übrig ist. Ansich ist es eine wirklich schöne Anlage mitten in der Natur mit verschiedenen Gehegen, Spielplätzen, etlichen Sitzmöglichkeiten und einem Restaurant. In den 80ern war dies auch ein sehr beliebtes Ausflugsziel vor allem für Familien, allerdings wurden die Besucher im Laufe der Jahre immer weniger und da der Park keinen Eintritt kostet, fehlten irgendwann die Gelder um die Anlage im bisherigen Ausmaß weiter zu betreiben. So kam es leider dazu, dass inzwischen viele Gehege leer sind und das Restaurant schließen musste. Tatsächlich befinden sich auf dem Gelände nur noch zwei weiße Ziegen, ein paar Zwergziegen, deren Gehege man betreten kann, eine kleine Herde Schafe, zwei Esel und zwei Ponys sowie ein paar Vögel und Kaninchen. Für unseren kleinen absolut ausreichend, aber es tut einem in der Seele weh wenn man vor seinem inneren Auge sieht, was man alles aus diesem Park machen könnte, beziehungsweise wie das alles mal ausgesehen haben muss. Aber leider besteht anscheinend keinerlei Interesse (weder von den potentiellen Besuchern, noch von der Stadt) diesen Park wieder in seinen ursprünglichen Zustand zu versetzen. Bei uns zuhause wäre eine solche Anlage eine Goldgrube, aber hier ticken die Uhren dann doch anders...

Before we visited my husband's grandparents this afternoon, we made an excursion to the Wartenberg. There, in the middle of the forest, there is a kind of wildpark - or rather what is left of it. It is a really nice place in the middle of nature with different enclosures, playgrounds, several seats and a restaurant. In the 80s it was also a very popular destination for families, but over the years the number of visitors decreased and since the park does not cost any entrance fee, there was no money to keep the park running at its current level. So it unfortunately happened that meanwhile many enclosures are empty and the restaurant had to close. In fact, there are only two white goats, a few dwarf goats whose enclosures can be entered, a small herd of sheep, two donkeys and two ponies as well as a few birds and rabbits. For our little one absolutely sufficient, but it hurts your soul when you see in front of your inner eye what you could do with this park, or rather what it must have looked like. But unfortunately there seems to be no interest (neither from potential visitors nor from the city) to restore this park to its original state. At home such a park would be a gold mine, but here the clocks tick differently...
