Thinking too quickly or too slowly

in #adhd2 months ago

I've just been on a call with 25 people all talking about something that I'm interested in and have experience of, but I find it really difficult to engage at that scale.

Partly it's that my mind is racing around picking at different strands, being reminded of things that would be helpful, but needing to look them up, getting distracted by things going on in the wall of little video boxes, but also thinking about why the white balance on my camera is different this afternoon than it was when I set it up for another call earlier today. And what we're having for dinner.

So alighting quickly on lots of different subjects but then slowly working through each of them, which puts me out of synch with the rest of the group. They've all moved on and I'm still thinking about the point that came up in the first five minutes. Sometimes it feels like I need a fast Lloyd and a slow Lloyd to attend these meetings and then have a debrief together afterwards!

Some meetings can be overewhelming. You need the minimum viable number of people the to keep it focused. I work with people who are on calls all day and I wonder what they really achieve. Meanwhile I'm doing the actual coding.
