My Little Sister

As I said in my introduction, I have a little cousin now turned sister. In May 2016 I walked into the hospital and met the cutest little baby I had ever seen. We immediately had a sort of connection. Me and my mom visited the hospital all three days that Nevaeh and her biological mother were there. We even took her biological parents and her home when they got discharged.

For two months we went and saw her probably twice a week. We did all the running that the family needed. Everything seemed to be going pretty good for them.

Then we got a call from her biological mother. Her other baby was admitted into the hospital by her friend who had the kids at the time. They couldn't get up with her so social services was called. Her friend got protective custody of the kids for two weeks and we could not see them at all.

My mom went and filled a petition for custody. She also told the Social Services Department the living conditions of the family that had Nevaeh were. There were rapist and drug addicts all over there neighboorhood and all the children needed to be removed. So, that's just what the court did. We went in and only after sitting for a few minutes my mom got full legal and physical custody of Nevaeh. Her little sister went to foster care, and today is one of the happiest adopted kids there could ever be.

We had Nevaeh for a month, and we went to two court dates. Finally on the last one my mom asked if we could not have anymore court dates. Dragging a baby back and fourth was way to hard. The judge said that there would not be anymore court dates after that. The parents did not even ask for visitation. My moms nephew who is the babies biological father was coming and seeing her, but he got a girlfriend and they both started doing drugs, my mom but a stop to that real quick. The biological mother only saw her once in October 2016 and has had no contact ever since.

Nevaeh is now a happy and healthy 20 month old. She is full of smiles and giggles. I always wanted a baby sister and God blessed me with her. Me and my mom joke all the time that we co-parent her because I have her when she works and has to do anything, and all my time is spent playing with her and making sure she is okay. I love it though. My mom is able to care for her, yes, but I know that the help is well appreciated.

Me and Nevaeh are blood related but we are not biological sisters. But she will always grow up knowing that I am her big sister and I wish nothing but the best for her. I will protect her and love her with everything in me. I can truly say that she is the best gift that God could have ever gave me.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my story.

It alwys make me angry when irresponsible people have a baby when they cant even take care of themselvs, but in this case it seems to have ended fine.
A congratulatin is in order then

Oh angry is an understatement for me. Her biological father had three kids and has none of them and her biological mom had five kids, one passed away because of not being taken care of and the other four are all adopted or people have custody of them. People really make me sick.

Oh Catherine, Navaeh is so beautiful! I'm so glad she's in a happy, loving home, and that she has you for a big sister!

Thank you!❤️
