Rock climbing over the ocean with no ropes or safety

in #adventure8 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemians!

Today I have another small reel from a beautiful climb in Ton Sai Thailand. This climb was considerably more difficult than the last one I uploaded. The whole climb is generally more overhanging on the way up and tops out at about 18 metres high.

The overhanging nature of this climb forces more weight onto the hands. To combat this having strong back muscles to keep your body close to the wall and a strong base of endurance in the forearms is essential.

The finish for this climb is insane, to complete this route you have to compress yourself between a mighty old stalactite almost a full arm span away from the wall and a slippery overhanging wall. All the holds here were sub-par and making the transition was very risky. I ended up doing a small jump here and held on for dear life making the transition.

Happy days! a well deserved rest. The adrenaline was really pumping after that one.

There was certainly no down climbing through that top section so the only option left is to jump. It's more fun anyway :)
