Located in between Tahoe and Georgetown in California, this spectacular off-road trail is designed to challenge those who believe they can conquer it. I have completed the Rubicon Trail 6 times myself. This trail is rated at a class 10, some areas being below that. Starting in a town called Georgetown, hundreds of Jeeps gather to sign up for the three-day long offroading adventure of their lives. This is such an amazing sight to see, so many people gathered in the same spot awaiting the same destiny. At the start of the trail, boxed lunches are handing out for mid-trail lunch. The first day is comprised of only offroading through the rocky forest trails. Upon arrival to the campgrounds after this first day of travel, you sign in and continue forth until you find a campsite that looks good to you. I recommend continuing on to camp near the lake. There is a rope for swinging off of and plenty of swimming areas in the lake, although sometimes cold, it is a fun area to camp near. Once a campsite is chosen and set up there are tons of activities and contests for both kids and adults. Some of these activities include a crawdad catching contest, an ice cream eating contest, rides above the trail in a helicopter and a guided hike through the forest. Meals are served three times a day and they are very good. The second day is comprised of fun activities, swimming in the lake, and hanging out at your campsite. There is a major raffle that takes place this night and you are entered just by signing up for the trip. I have won two times so it is very likely to win, they also sometimes raffle off a jeep! After dinner, the night is filled with dancing to a live band. The next morning, I suggest leaving early unless you want to get stuck behind old jeeps that often break down. I leave at 6 am, so I suggest getting ready to pack up your things quickly in the morning. There is an early morning breakfast for those who choose to leave earlier and they hand out sloppy joe's half way through the trail. After about 4 hours of off-roading the trail ends in Lake Tahoe where employees fill up your tires with air for free. Since this trip is only 3 days total, it wouldn't be a bad idea to spend some more days in Tahoe for a longer vacation. This trip if full of relaxation but also adventure and fun, I hope you can try it some time!
