I bought this bike to get me around the farm, and have a little fun at the same time. When I do not need to carry much, I plan on riding it as much as possible when visiting different areas of my property. Unless the weather is really bad outside, I look forward to really putting this bike to use. It is quite special, it is a high powered electric bike. Has around a 30 mile range on a single charge and can go quite fast if need be. Though I have yet to test out its top speed, going 20mph is already fun enough for the moment.
In the morning I had some firewood work to do, but then after I was done it was time to have a little fun.
Stats:
Talaria Sting R MX5
72V 40Ah battery (2,880 WH)
Weight: 159lbs (76 kg)
17HP / 33 foot lbs torque
Rated power: 5.5kw
Peak power: 13.4 kw
Eco mode top speed: 20MPH (32KPH)
Sport mode top speed: 50MPH (80KPH)
Hyper mode top speed: 60MPH (96KPH)
I mostly ride it around in eco mode and sport mode. It carries me around just fine at those speeds.
The bike has an electric motor that runs off a battery pack inside the frame of the body of the bike.
It has some serious brakes on it, something you would see on a gas motorcycle.
The ride is quite nice, I can adjust the shocks but have not done so.
I plan on only riding it by myself, not sure if it could fit two people.
Taking it out to one of my new buildings I am having constructed.
Hah the bike looks so small by comparison. Its a full size bike though, was worried it would be small but its pretty standard size.
I can adjust the front shocks as well.
My gear is some armored gloves, and a basic dirt bike helmet and glasses.
Leaving the building I go ride it on my forest roads. I park it once in awhile to get some pictures. Was worried it would fall over on this gravel but it did not luckily.
It is great taking it out for a ride, its so quiet and I can really sneak up on wild life.
A display is mounted to the handle bars, tells me my speed, remaining charge and lets me set the modes for performance.
It is quite light for a motorcycle. So its pretty easy to deal with.
Getting deeper into the woods I start running out of gravel and run into downed trees. I turn around and come back towards to homestead.
Before I do though, I enjoy the quiet.. Love it out here.
Heading back would take me a good thirty minutes, but on the bike I can get home in just a few minutes.
I went down this path for a short time, but many fallen trees made riding risky. Did not want to drop my bike..lol
Before I take the bike back to my workshop I get a few more pictures. Autumn is in full effect here, lots of fallen leaves and a few trees still have theirs but not much.
Curious how it does when it snows, not sure I am ready for that..lol But the weather is nice today so glad I could go out for a ride.
Getting back to the shop, I put my helmet and glasses back. Take the bike inside and put my gloves away. Was a fun ride.
Its so clean right now, gotta keep it nice long term.
Need to figure out how to change the display to MPH. But so far I have rode around 6 Km on it, which is around 3.7 miles.
I only used 11 percent of the battery, but wanted to show it off being charged.. Quite simple. Just plug it in the side. No battery removal needed.
The charger makes more noise than the bike...lol But that is okay, its so cool I can charge this in my workshop. Where I get my electricity from the solar power I produce.
So its so cool that I can power this bike by the rays of the sun so to say. As long as my solar array is up I can charge this thing, regardless of the grid situation.
A word of warning for anyone looking to buy one of these, most websites selling these are scams. If they offer a discount buying with BTC there is a chance its a scam. So do research and find a legit place to buy them otherwise you may get ripped off.
But I am glad I got mine, hopefully it lasts many years. And I love the idea that I can charge it using my solar array.. Gives me that much more enjoyment knowing the power its running on I produced.
That looks like fun. Not having to buy fuel is a cool bonus. I'm not sure how available they are here or what the rules are about using them on the road. Normal e-bikes have to have a low max speed. Electric scooters are not really legal anywhere in public, but people use them anyway. We do need to encourage people to move away from polluting vehicles, so the rules should adapt.
It sure is cool to be able to power my bike and not need fuel. I am unsure of the riding laws here for these things.. seems like the law has not caught since these are new.
There is something I am missing.
Deep tyre tracks in the damp forest floor, churned up leaves, clods of earth swirling through the air, a dirty motorbike and a rodeo cowboy who looks like he's just enjoyed a mud bath.
That's when the fun begins.😉😎
Yeah man it is a lot of fun, great way to blow off some steam after a day of work.
Guau your bike it is so nice I want one.
It is not expensive?
How much is the cost.
Thanks.. it was around $4000
Mmmm it is to expensive, mmmm why not a motorcycle by $1599, for example an Honda.
Thanks a lot.
Because I wanted a motorcycle I could charge on my solar array.
This is a nice plan to have enough Energy to be used.
Yeah my workshop is almost always in surplus of solar energy.
I am thinking in development one solar panel to get some extra energy.
I have a little space to do this
I guess this could give me a little energy but right now it is a proyect to me.
@tipu curate
Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 12/52) Liquid rewards.
I covert this bike. But I know it won't be that easy to afford 😃
Yeah it is quite nice.. and pricey
Do you also own a traditional dirt bike, or have you owned one in the past?
This is my first dirt bike. But I owned and rode a street motorcycle in the past.
I'd love to take that e-dirt bike for a spin!
When Hive moons, power down some and get yourself a nice toy :-)
It must be a lot of fun riding the electric powe bike. I particularly love it because it is also solar powered, it's like having the best of two worlds. Enjoy!
It sure is a lot of fun. It's been a blast riding it around here. And powering it with my own equipment.
Thanks
You are welcome @solomonminer.
Bonita moto eléctrica, al estilo motocross, me imagino que te sirve mocho para tu pueblo @solominer.
En los próximos días haré un post en el que te dediqué un arte espero te guste amigo..saludos desde cuba bro 🇨🇺😊👏
Hah yeah it does have that motocross look.
Oh cool, looking forward to seeing it.
My husband and I bought E-Bikes, and we love them for trips to the store.
Living in Fl we have a lot of sand so we each carry a small block of wood to put under the kickstand.
Oh cool. That does sound like fun, I have only kept mine in my property. But I think about taking it down some rural public roads around where I live.
Hah that is a good idea.. yeah that is probably even harder to set your bike down on than muddy dirt like around here.
Wow, that is really cool. I have never been on a motorcycle before, but these new electric devices are really starting to get my attention. I think I'd like to start with one of those bikes that has the pedal assist.
It is quite the bike, I have owned a motorcycle previously to this. But electric vehicles are all new to me.
That would be cool, ebikes sound like fun.
What a fantastic bike! Can it be insured and registered to ride on public roads too?
Nice to see you dressed for the ocassion. I always find that cream is a great colour to wear when dirt-biking ;-)
Have a great weekend :-)
I am not sure, need to look into the laws here about them.
Hehe that is what I usually wear on the farm, just happened to be wearing what I was hauling firewood around in.
Thanks, hope you do too.
I think I would build it its own concrete box to live in, those things like to catch fire when charging.
Oh man I hope that never happens. Hopefully the BMS will protect them.
For sure, it seems to be the cheapest ones that have the most danger, mostly while charging.
But, it is a real danger, anything with a lithium battery is a bomb waiting for a spark.
Oh.. it's my first to know that there's e-dirt bike.😊
Yeah they are new to the market
Awwww this looks so cool, having a bike like this would be a delight.
Well done friend.
It sure is cool to have.. thanks
It looks perfect. Great design. I'm thinking of doing something similar, but I'd rather modify an old bike (I have three bikes at home that nobody rides anymore) to pedal a bit more.
Oh cool. I have seen many people do that. But I wanted something working out of the box.. But building your own sounds like a lot of fun.
Never rode this thing. This might be fun riding it.
Yeah it is quite fun
You seem to be very eco-oriented with your electric bike and solar panels. Do you use energy from your panels to run your node? BTW I have read that is best to charge electric vehicle to 80% which increase battery life.
Yep, I am trying to build at least a partial off grid life that is sustainable.
Oh interesting, I know about not to deep cycle them.. like below 20% but have not heard about over charging them.
80% is recommended for cars and I assumed the same would be true for bikes. Also, in later versions of the iPhone, Apple will be giving users the option to charge only to 80%.
I'll be voting for you as a witness.
Oh interesting, okay I will look more into that.
Sorry I missed your question about my node, yes it runs on solar. Unless its too cloudy then its grid energy.
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
Wow this bike look cool. I love it, thanks for sharing.
thanks.. glad you liked it.
Very cool. I bought an electric bike a while back and love it. Mine is more of a traditional bicycle type and only 30mph top speed but double the distance and can easily swap the battery out in a few seconds (came with an extra). Your bike has amazing power and speed, will be great fun in the woods.
I also love the fact of solar charging and not having to refill gas tanks or have them sitting around. So nice to push the button and GO!
May think about some of those hand protectors like they sell for ATV use. They do a great job keeping the limbs and especially thorn limbs off your hands.
Oh cool, those sound like fun too. I have yet to go even that fast on mine. And that is good you can swap out the battery. Mine came with one. If I pop off the cover I can take it right out.
Sure is, so cool to be charging my bike using solar..
Good point, I will look into them. But for now I have some armored gloves I ride with.
How does it compare to a gas powered one performance wise?
Good question, time to do a race and see.
It has more HP than a 150CC dirt bike and its lighter.
The electric dirt bike that you use to get around the area on your property looks very cool, and one more thing you also get another bonus without needing to fill up your gas you can go around as much as you want, what I like about this vehicle is that the shape is simple and attractive.
It sure is, so glad to have this as an option to ride around the property on.
Indeed it does have a nice look.
Your train is really cool. I also really like it when I see you going for a ride using that train in that place snowy
Glad you like my train :-)
Okay I will try to get videos of me on my train when it snows.
BTW this is a train.
Oh wow, that look so cool and fun. I own a Honda XR and I always have so much fun when riding it.
It sure is a lot of fun. Oh cool. I used to ride around on a street bike and always had a blast.
damn!! buddy :D I'm a lil envious ^^
Hehe yeah man get yourself one when crypto moons.
